Goldener Rathausmann (Festival)
The Golden Town Hall Man was a festival to promote young artists of popular music in the GDR .
history
This music festival was held from 1978 parallel to the International Schlager Festival in Dresden . At this festival, in addition to the prizes in the main competition, a press award and an audience award were given to the best artists, lyricists, composers, etc. The venue was the Kulturpalast in Dresden .
In 1989 the festival took place without the International Schlager Festival. In 1990 an all-German event was held for the first time. On April 24, 2009, the “Golden Town Hall Man” was presented to young artists for the first time as part of the 7th International Variety and Circus Festival. In addition to the certificate, the three winners received prize money of 2000 euros, 1500 euros and 1000 euros. In addition, special prizes were awarded.

The festival is named after the statue Goldener Rathausmann on the New Town Hall in Dresden.
