Arnulf Wenning (* 1957 in Stendal ) is a German pop singer .

Life

Wenning learned to play the flute as a 17-year-old and sang in the Magdeburg studio choir . From 1977 to 1980 he was a founding member of the Magdeburg band Gatalula (short for "full-day pleasure latte "). From 1979 to 1983 he studied singing and flute at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar . Wenning became known in 1981 as the singer of the joke band Reggae Play . In 1984 he left Reggae Play to begin a solo career. For a short time he formed the duo Traumboot with singer Tina . In 1986 he achieved second place in the interpreter's competition in Siófok, Hungary, with the disco title Eisdame, and first place at the Goldener Rathausmann youth festival in Dresden . His title Red So Red was a great success in several Eastern European countries. In 1987, the GDR record label Amiga released a long-playing record entitled Arnulf Wenning . In the same year he received a gold record for Rot so rot . With Ines Paulke he sang the duet You could be it . In 1987 the short film The New Attempt to Incarnate won the silver medal at the UNICA film festival in Vienna with Wenning as the only actor. He can be seen there naked on the Baltic Sea beach. In 1988 he won the Grand Prix main prize at the Dresden International Schlager Festival .

After the fall of the Berlin Wall , Wenning founded the "Schlager-Beat-Kapelle" Arni & die Schlagersterne , which existed until 1992. From 1993 to 1996 he worked as a hot air balloon pilot . In 1994 the maxi CD Nur bei dir was released . In 1996 he began to work as a freelance photographer, including as a commercial photographer. From 1996 to 1999 he performed with German Dance House featuring Arnulf Wenning . Since 2004 he is a member of the romantics , the Swing plays. Since 2005 and 2006 he has performed alternately with the Leipzig Big Band and the Arnulf Wenning Band . He has also been known under the name Capitano Arnulfo since 2007 and began working with accordion player Martin Müller, which initially resulted in the project Die Große Freiheit . In the same year his Amiga album was released on CD along with three more recent tracks. Since 2009 he has also appeared with Lutz Winkler (formerly Reggae Play) and other musicians as Reggae Play and Margot's Nightmare - in this formation, pieces from Reggae Play are played, which are from short films (by Helmut Pöschel, amateur film studio Würchwitz) from the GDR.
