Reggae Play is a German band founded in Magdeburg in 1980 , which mainly plays reggae and pop music with humorous lyrics.
Band history
Reggae Play was founded in February 1980. One of the founding members was Lutz Winkler, who is the only permanent member of the band. In 1981 Reggae Play was named the most popular amateur band by Neues Leben magazine . In the autumn of the same year, Reggae Play became a professional band. The band mainly played reggae and pop music and combined this with a fun stage show. In 1982 she had her biggest hits with bicycle tours and summer reggae. The line-up changed very frequently. In addition to singer and keyboard player Winkler (also drum computer ), the members included singer and flutist Arnulf Wenning (until 1984), singer Tobias Morgenstern (later L'art de passage ), keyboard player Jürgen Rohmeis (also drum computer, occasionally with itchiness) ), Andreas Raab (also keyboards and drum computers), singer and guitarist Reinhard Fißler (previously with Stern-Combo Meißen and FWH , later Fißler Gang and again Stern-Combo Meißen), percussionist Klaus Wehrmann (later Tutti Paletti ), guitarist Heinz Prüfer (previously with Express , later Fißler Gang and Klaus Renft Combo ) and Harald Pieler, who participated as a singer, pianist, guitarist and accordionist . From 1988 the band played with Winkler, Pieler, guitarist Jürgen Schienemann, musical clown Sebastian Richter, drummer Jan Peter Wüstenberg, Frank Brennecke (bass guitar) and Anne Wiebke Wiltsch (saxophone). In 1989 the band split up for the time being.
In 2009 it was re-established with Winkler, Wenning and the accordionist Martin Müller. In September 2009 Reggae Play appeared again for the first time at the “Impro-im-Park-Festival” in Magdeburg's city park ; further concerts followed.
