Gregory Vaydik (born October 9, 1955 in Yellowknife , Northwest Territories ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League during his career .
Career
Greg Vaydik began his career in 1972 with the Drumheller Falcons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League . During the 1972/73 season he went to the Medicine Hat Tigers in the WCJHL and won the President's Cup with the team at the end of the season . In his third season, he scored over 100 points for the Medicine Hat Tigers and was the team's third-best scorer. In the 1975 NHL Amateur Draft , he was selected in the first round as the seventh player by the Chicago Blackhawks . The 1975/76 season he played with the Dallas Black Hawks in the Central Hockey League , but only made 17 missions because he was out for most of the season due to a knee injury. A year later he made his debut for the Blackhawks in the National Hockey League and came to five missions, but no scorer point. At the Dallas Black Hawks he was set as a regular player for the following two years and Vaydik scored 29 goals each time. In 1978 he went to the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League , where he scored 41 points in 80 games. But he did not return to the NHL and Greg Vaydik played again for the Dallas Black Hawks in the Central Hockey League until 1982. After the 1981/82 season, he ended his career.
At the Junior World Championships in 1975 Greg Vaydik played for Team Canada and won the silver medal. He was used in three games and provided one assist.
