history
The Dallas Black Hawks were founded in 1967 as the successor team to the relocated St. Louis Braves and began playing in the Central Hockey League for the 1967/68 season . The franchise's first head coach, Canadian Bobby Kromm , led the Black Hawks through the next eight years.
The franchise served as the Chicago Blackhawks' farm team from inception until 1978 . As a result, various players such as Jim Wiste , Cliff Koroll , Jack Norris , Dave Dryden , Bobby Schmautz , Paul Shmyr , Mike O'Connell and Reg Kerr also ran on the ice in the National Hockey League for the Chicago Blackhawks. The Black Hawks later cooperated with the Vancouver Canucks, among others . In their first season, the team was able to achieve a slightly positive record with 30 wins, 29 losses and 11 draws and took third place in the then four-team Southern Division. The following season, the Black Hawks achieved a total of 84 points in the regular season and placed second in the five-team South Division. In the play-offs succeeded after victories over the Houston Apollos , Omaha Knights and Oklahoma City Blazers, the first win of the championship, the Adams Cup . After failing to make it to the finals in 1969/70, the team advanced to the finals a year later and lost in six games against the Omaha Knights.
In the course of the following years, the team was one of the most successful in the Central Hockey League and won the championship again in 1972 and 1974. The fourth and last Adams Cup of the Black Hawks was won in the 1978/79 season, making the franchise together with the Omaha Knights, each with four championships, the most successful teams in the history of the league. In the 1981/82 season, they once again made it into the finals, in which the team lost six games against the Indianapolis Checkers . The franchise was then dissolved.
