The Phoenix Roadrunners were an American ice hockey franchise of the Central Hockey League based in Phoenix , Arizona .
history
The Phoenix Roadrunners began playing in the Central Hockey League for the 1977/78 season . They continued the tradition of the franchise of the same name from the World Hockey Association . After the team reached only eleven points in 27 games, the team owners decided to withdraw the team on December 12, 1977 prematurely from the game operations of the CHL. Instead, they founded a team of the same name in the Pacific Hockey League .
