The St. Paul Rangers were an American ice hockey franchise of the Central Hockey League based in Saint Paul , Minnesota .

history

The St. Paul Rangers took on the 1963/64 season the game operations in the newly formed Central Professional Hockey League , in which they were the new farm team of the New York Rangers from the National Hockey League . In the premier season of the league, the St. Paul Rangers immediately reached the championship final, in which they were defeated by the Omaha Knights in the best-of-seven series with 1: 4 wins. In the following season , the team first took first place in the regular season, before they won the Adams Cup, the championship title of the CPHL, in the playoffs. In the final, they defeated the Tulsa Oilers . For the 1965/66 season , the team changed its name to Minnesota Rangers. In regular time she was again first, but was eliminated in the playoffs in the first round.

For the 1966/67 season , the Minnesota Rangers were relocated to Omaha , Nebraska , and changed their name to Omaha Knights, whose tradition they continued after a one-year break.
