The Amarillo Wranglers were an American ice hockey franchise of the Central Hockey League based in Amarillo , Texas .
history
The Amarillo Wranglers started playing in the Central Hockey League for the 1968/69 season . In their first season, the team as fourth in the South Division just missed the playoffs for the Adams Cup , but was then inactive for financial reasons for the following season . For the 1970/71 season , the Wranglers returned to the CHL, but were knocked off with only 14 wins in 72 games bottom of the table and again missed the playoffs. The franchise was then dissolved.
It took over two decades until 1996, with the Amarillo Rattlers from the Western Professional Hockey League , a professional ice hockey team was resettled in the city.
