The Kaufleutstube is the building at Vordergasse 58 in the old town of Schaffhausen . The Zunft zum Kaufleuten bought the property together with the associated Romanesque knight tower. In 1780 the tower in danger of collapsing was demolished. From 1780–1784 the guild house was renewed and equipped with an early classicist facade based on plans by foreman Hans Conrad Spengler. In 1876 the guild sold the building to the casino company, which in 1908 sold it to Meier + Cie AG . From 1908 to 1910 the interior was rebuilt and a printing press was set up. Today the editorial office of the Schaffhauser Nachrichten is located there .
