The management was aware that only a good sporting performance, especially at home games, could lay the foundation for the team's financial success. The players did not succeed, however, and they started at home with eight defeats in a row. The star in the team was Ralph Backstrom . After the average attendance was only around 3,000 per game, Mullenix pulled the emergency brake early on and planned to sell the franchise to Ottawa. The move to Ottawa was on January 2, 1976.
