history

The franchise of the Victoria Cougars of the Western Hockey League became the season 1961-62 to Los Angeles, California, relocated and renamed the Los Angeles Blades. While the team ended the regular season in midfield in their first three seasons, they only finished last or penultimate place in the following three seasons.

Following the 1966/67 season , the Los Angeles Blades stopped playing because the Los Angeles Kings, a new ice hockey franchise from the city, received a starting place for the National Hockey League and the competition from the new team was too great.
