The Hagenburger Moor is a southern border moor of the Steinhuder Meer and emerged from its silting at the edge. It is located in the Lower Saxony town of Wunstorf and is a nature reserve in its entirety .
Characteristics
The east-west running lowland of the Steinhuder Meer has large bogs near the lake . The eastern part is almost completely developed as a raised bog ( dead bog ), in the western part, the sea break , fens dominate, which have largely been converted into grassland. Here, only the south-eastern part north of the nearby patch Hagenburg bog areas in addition to low- and intermediate moors. The fens of Hagenburger Moores grow extensive alder - birch - swamp forests , drained the bog sites where old Handtorfstiche are found to be of birch pine -Moorwald and moor grass marked item. Occasionally cotton grass - peat moss - swinging lawns can also be found.
The moor drains through ditches such as the Hagenburg Canal to the Steinhuder Meer or the Südbach (southern edge canal of the Steinhuder Meer) directly to the Meerbach .

The nature reserve Hagenburger Moor with the registration number NSG HA 027 is 200 hectares . The nature reserve is almost completely part of the FFH area Steinhuder Meer (with peripheral areas) and the EU bird reserve Steinhuder Meer . In the south and west it borders on the nature reserve Meerbruchswiesen , in the north-west on the nature reserve Meerbruch .
The area has been under nature protection since July 5, 1962, making it the oldest nature reserve on the Steinhuder Meer. The lower responsible nature conservation authority is the Hanover region .
The moor is in the Steinhuder Meer nature park , which is responsible for coordinating aspects of landscape culture such as recreational use, nature conservation and agriculture.
