The Hallerbruch is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony town of Springe in the Hanover region .

General

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 243 is approximately 128  hectares . It is part of the FFH area of the same name, designated in 2004 and covering 212.44 hectares . The area was designated as an independent nature reserve on January 11, 2019. Previously it was part of the " Saupark " nature reserve , which was designated as of March 20, 1954 and which also included parts to the south of the bison enclosure . These areas were released from the nature reserve in the 1980s and 1990s by amending ordinances. Located outside the protected area parts of the FFH area are part of the protected landscape "Osterwaldstraße - Saupark". The nature reserve borders on the "Saupark" nature reserve to the southwest and the "Osterwald - Saupark" nature reserve to the northwest, north and east. The lower responsible nature conservation authority is the Hanover region.

The forests in Kleiner Deister were royal hunting grounds. Parts of the Hallerbruch were also used as a hut forest . Some old oaks still exist from the time it was used as a hut forest. The map of the Kurhannoverschen Landesaufnahme shows the cow pasture in the western part of the Hallerbruch in the late 18th century . In addition, it was used as a middle forest . After the game reserve was enclosed with a wall between 1836 and 1839 as what would later become the Saupark Springe, the use of the Hallerbruch as a hut forest ended in 1840. The farmers entitled to use the property were settled with a settlement .
