The synagogue in Halberstadt , the district town of the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany), was inaugurated in 1712. The synagogue , which the court Jew Issachar Berend Lehmann (1661–1730) had financed, was hidden behind the houses on Bakenstrasse and Judenstrasse.

The two-story women's gallery was integrated into the synagogue room. At the end of the 19th century, the Hirsch family from Halberstadt had the synagogue modernized and the baroque building was expanded to include an entrance hall. The dome of the synagogue doubled over the surrounding buildings.

During the pogrom night of November 9, 1938 , the synagogue was looted and all Torah scrolls were burned in the street. On November 18, 1938, the construction police ordered the synagogue to be demolished, which began the following day. The Halberstadt Jewish community had to pay for the demolition costs.
