The Black Moor near Resse is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony town of Garbsen and the municipality of Wedemark in the Hanover region .
description
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 162 is 140 hectares in size. It is almost completely part of the FFH area "Helstorfer, Otternhagener and Schwarzes Moor". The “ Otternhagener Moor ” nature reserve is located immediately to the north. The two moor areas are separated from each other by a narrow ridge of mineral soil. The area, which is managed by the Lower Saxony State Hunters' Association, has been a nature reserve since December 9, 1993. The lower responsible nature conservation authority is the Hanover region.
The nature reserve is located northwest of Langenhagen and west of Resse in the Hanoverian Moorgeest , an Ice Age geest and ground moraine landscape. It provides a high moor area under protection, which in the past drained and into the 1950s by rural Handtorfstiche was teilabgetorft. It is characterized by pine-birch- bog forest , which grows particularly on the dams between the narrow bands of peat cuttings, but also open bog areas with bell heather and common heather , cotton grass and peat moss . In the former Handtorfstichen to peat moss has oscillating lawn developed. The moor edges are mainly made up of moor forest and birch break forest .
Particularly in the south of the reserve are at the edge of grassland areas, sporadically field to find areas. The grassland is of willow - alder thickets and Hochstaudenfluren hemmed.
Wiedervernässungs measures serve the regeneration of the moor. By Entkusselung the open are fighting procedures moorland - and moorland promoted.
In the drier peripheral areas of the nature reserve, u. a. Butterflies and grasshoppers , including marsh insects and short-winged sword insects . The inner area of the area offers not only numerous birds but also reptiles , amphibians and insects such as B. dragonflies a habitat.
The area drains east to Reester Graben and south to Auter , a tributary of the Leine .
Development of the area
As part of the LIFE + project “Hannoversche Moorgeest”, several moors on an area of 2,240 hectares, including the Black Moor, are to be ecologically upgraded by 2023. The planning approval decision for the project was issued in 2016. In order to optimize rainwater retention, existing drainage systems are to be dismantled and new dams and dams built. In addition, areas have already been decussed , small bodies of water released and grassland areas extensified. Information boards inform those interested on site. 60% of the costs are financed by EU funds, 35% by the state of Lower Saxony and 5% by the Hanover region. The hydraulic engineering work with heavy equipment is scheduled to begin in 2019.
