The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 194 is 39 hectares in size. In the south it borders directly on the " Trunnenmoor " nature reserve . The 16.6 hectare natural forest reserve of the same name, designated in 1972, is part of the nature reserve.
The nature reserve lies between Wettmar and Fuhrberg . It is a forest area characterized by pine and spruce trees with a high proportion of standing and lying dead wood on boggy ground under protection. A part of the nature reserve is left to its natural development as a natural forest, the remaining part is used as a natural forest. Alder , birch and oak are mixed in with the forest . The herb layer is predominantly characterized by pipe grass , ferns and moss , in some damp places also by peat moss .
The area drains to the Tiefenbruchsgraben, a tributary of the Wulbeck, which in turn flows into the Wietze , a tributary of the Aller .
The area has been under nature protection since June 22, 2000. The lower responsible nature conservation authority is the Hanover region.
