The Victoria Cougars were a Canadian ice hockey franchise of the Western Hockey League based in Victoria , British Columbia .

history

The Victoria Cougars were founded as a franchise of the Pacific Coast Hockey League for the 1949/50 season . A team of the same name played in Victoria from 1922 to 1926 . The most successful season in team history was the 1950/51 season , in which the team won the Lester Patrick Cup , the championship title of the PCHL. After the PCHL was replaced by the Western Hockey League following the 1951/52 season , the Victoria Cougars joined this and stayed in the league for a total of nine years.

Following the 1960/61 season , the Victoria Cougars were relocated to Los Angeles , California , and from then on played as Los Angeles Blades in the WHL.
