Eugénie Segond-Weber
Eugénie Segond-Weber (born February 6, 1867 in Paris , † June 14, 1945 ) was a French actress.
Life
Caroline-Eugénie Weber was born as the daughter of Charles Weber, who led a battalion during the commune and was secretary to Édouard Lockroy . Charles Weber died in 1871. Eugénie Weber attended the Conservatory from 1883 and had her first engagement at the Odeon in 1885. From June 1, 1887, she was a member of the Comédie-Française . She worked as an actress until 1944. She was the mother of the painter Pierre Segond-Weber (* 1886).
In 1891 Segond-Weber played in Jeanne d'Arc , in 1900 in Le Cid . Around 1903 she could be seen as Antigone and as Medea in the Comédie-Française.
Eugénie Segond-Weber's grave is in the Père Lachaise cemetery .
Portraits and aftermath
Eugénie Segond-Weber was the motif of various collective and advertising images. Well-known photographers such as Napoleon Sarony , Léopold-Émile Reutlinger and Nadar portrayed them; In 1904 Leonetto Cappiello published the work Les Contemporains Celèbres , a collection of caricatures in which “Mme. Segond-Weber ”a lithograph was dedicated. A rose is named after Segond-Weber.
