The San Diego Skyhawks were an American ice hockey franchise of the Pacific Coast Hockey League based in San Diego , California .

history

The San Diego Skyhawks were formed in 1942 as an amateur team. First they played for two years in the Southern California Hockey League, before the franchise for the 1944/45 season in their successor, the professional league Pacific Coast Hockey League , changed. The team's most successful season was the 1944/45 season, in which they took first place in the South Division of the PCHL. In the other five seasons of the PCHL, in which the Skyhawks participated, they took third place in their division. In the playoffs for the Lester Patrick Cup , the league's championship title, however, they could never prevail. Following the 1949/50 season , the San Diego Skyhawks stopped playing.
