The Los Angeles Monarchs were an American ice hockey franchise of the Pacific Coast Hockey League based in Los Angeles , California .

The Los Angeles Monarchs were founded in 1941 as an amateur team. First they played for three years in the Southern California Hockey League, before the franchise for the 1944/45 season in their successor, the professional league Pacific Coast Hockey League , changed. The team's most successful season was the 1946/47 season , in which they won the Lester Patrick Cup , the championship title of the PCHL. Although the team was also successful in sports in the following years, they stopped playing after the 1949/50 season .
