The Tacoma Rockets were an American ice hockey franchise of the Western Hockey League from Tacoma , Washington .

history

The Tacoma Rockets were founded as a franchise of the Pacific Coast Hockey League for the 1946/47 season . Although the team was regularly among the best teams in the league in the regular season in their six seasons in the PCHL, they never won the Lester Patrick Cup , the PCHL championship title. After the league was replaced by the Western Hockey League for the 1952/53 season , the Tacoma Rockets also joined their successor league . Their first and only season in the WHL ended the Rockets in seventh and penultimate place of the regular season. The team then stopped playing.

From 1991 to 1995 a team of the same name played in the top junior league Western Hockey League .
