The McNichols Sports Arena was a multi-purpose arena in Denver , Colorado .

History and use

The arena was designed by Charles S. Sink & Associates. The foundation stone was laid on August 8, 1973. The company Ketchum, Konkel, Ryan, & Fleming constructed the building until its completion on August 22, 1975. The arena was the venue for many sports competitions in the disciplines of wrestling , basketball , football and hockey . The hall was also used for concerts by internationally successful artists such as Eric Clapton , Michael Jackson , Peter Gabriel , Prince and REO Speedwagon . On 29 September 1999, the 16 million closed US dollars expensive arena and was demolished on January 24, 2000.
