Forrer made her first international appearance in 2001 with Nadia Erni at the Gstaad Open of the FIVB World Tour . In the same year she was ninth with Melanie Schonenberger at the Junior World Championship in Le Lavandou . In 2002 Forrer / Schonenberger reached the final of the same competition in Catania . They also played the Gstaad Open. At the Swiss championship they were only defeated in the final against Simone Kuhn and Nicole Schnyder-Benoit . In 2003, the duo completed the tournament in Gstaad, the open tournaments in Rhodes and Stavanger and the Grand Slam in Berlin . In the 2004 season, Forrer played with Annik Skrivan . Forrer / Skrivan did not get more than 33rd places on the World Tour. Only at the CEV satellite tournament in Lausanne did they come in fourth in the top ten. In September Forrer competed with Lea Schwer at the Milan and Rio de Janeiro Open and reached places 25 and 13. In 2005, Romana Kayser became her new partner. While Forrer / Kayser were eliminated early in the FIVB tournaments, they finished seventh and fifth in the satellite tournaments in Lausanne and Vaduz. In 2006 they did not reach any top places on the World Tour either. With Erni she finished fourth in the Vaduz Satellite.

In 2007 Forrer formed a new duo with Sarah Schmocker . On the World Tour 2007 two 25th places in Warsaw and Kristiansand were the best results for Forrer / Schmocker. At the Challenger tournaments in Cyprus and Beijing , they each came fourth. After a defeat in the final against Nadia Erni and Muriel Grässli, they became Swiss runners-up nationally. In 2008 they won the satellite tournament in Laredo . They achieved further top places as seventh in Cyprus and third in el-Alamein (Challenger) and fifth in Vaduz (Satellite). They also became Swiss vice-champions again, this time after a final against Martina Grossen and Romana Kayser. At the beginning of the 2009 season, Forrer was fifth in the Masters in Gran Canaria with Kuhn . She played the next Masters tournaments in Baden and Berlin with Schmocker again. Then they took part in the World Cup in Stavanger . As group runner-up they came into the first main round, in which they were defeated by the Brazilians Saka / Rtvelo starting for Georgia . A week later they were ninth in the Grand Slam in Gstaad. In August they took 17th place three more times. They achieved the same result in May 2010 at the Shanghai Open and the Grand Slam in Rome . After three more Grand Slams, Schmocker had to end the season and ultimately her career because of hip pain. Forrer therefore competed with Joana Heidrich at the tournaments in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee , Stare Jabłonki and Kristiansand . With her she also reached third place in the Swiss championship.

Forrer has been playing with Anouk Vergé-Dépré since 2011 . At the Challenger tournament in Seoul Forrer / Vergé-Dépré came third and at the Masters in Niechorze they finished 13th. The first joint Grand Slams were less successful. In Kristiansand they reached the main round of the European Championship in second place in the group and were eliminated against the Norwegians Maaseide / Tørlen . She competed with Kayser at the Swiss championship in 2011 and was runner-up again after a final against the national duo Kuhn / Nadine Zumkehr . In 2012 they won the Masters tournament in Baden. At the European Championships in Scheveningen they came third in the group in the knockout phase and had to admit defeat to the Czechs Háječková / Klapalová in the round of 16 , which meant they ended the tournament in ninth place. They also finished ninth in the Grand Slams in Berlin and Klagenfurt and in the Masters in Varna . In Bern they prevailed against Heidrich / Kayser in the final of the Swiss championship and won the title for the first time. Forrer / Vergé-Dépré started the international season 2013 with a ninth place at the satellite tournament in Antalya . They finished fourth at the Masters in Baden. Then they finished 17th at the Grand Slams in The Hague and Rome before traveling to the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki . When they came third in the group, they made it to the main round, where they lost their first game against the fourth-placed Ross / Pavlik from the USA. They finished ninth at the Grand Slam in Long Beach . Then they played the European Championship in Klagenfurt , where they won the opening game against their Swiss opponents Kayser / Eiholzer and went into the knockout phase as third in the group. There they achieved two more victories before losing to the later finalists Liliana / Baquerizo in the quarterfinals and finishing the tournament fifth. They achieved the same result in October at the Grand Slam in São Paulo . On the national tour in 2013 Forrer reached the finals in Zurich and with Eiholzer in Olten . At the Swiss championship, the defending champions Forrer / Vergé-Dépré were dethroned in the final by Tanja Goricanec and Tanja Hüberli .

In 2014 they won their group at the European Championships in Quartu Sant'Elena , but lost the round of 16 against the German Bieneck / Großner and finished ninth. This was the result for Forrer / Vergé-Depré at the Grand Slam in Stavanger. They finished four other Grand Slams in 17th place. At the CEV Masters in Biel / Bienne they made it to the finals. A few days later they reached the final of the Swiss championship, which they lost against Heidrich / Zumkehr. The Swiss female runners-up took part in the final at the satellite tournament in Stuttgart . At the end of the year, they finished ninth in the Xiamen Open. With the same result, they opened the 2015 World Tour at the Luzern Open. Three weaker tournaments followed before Forrer / Vergé-Dépré were fifth in the Grand Slam in Saint Petersburg . In the preliminary round of the World Cup in the Netherlands , they won against Heidrich / Zumkehr and prevailed as second in the group ahead of their national competitors. In the first main round they were eliminated against the Australians Bawden / Clancy . They were more successful at the European Championships in Klagenfurt . There they came second to the second round against the new European champions Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst . A week after the European Championship, Forrer / Vergé-Dépré reached the final of the Masters tournament in Biel / Bienne for the second time in a row. There were also two ninth places at the Grand Slams in Long Beach and Olsztyn . In Bern they won their second joint title at the national championship with a win against Goricanec / Hüberli. On the World Tour they also remained successful as second in the Sochi Open and third in Xiamen.

At the beginning of the 2016 season they played three tournaments in Brazil and finished fourth in the Grand Slam in Rio and ninth each of the Maceió and Vitória Open. Then they won the final of the Xiamen Open against the Austrians Stefanie Schwaiger and Barbara Hansel and thus celebrated their first tournament victory on the World Tour. They finished fourth at the Fuzhou Open and ninth in Antalya. In Biel / Bienne they reached the first knockout round at the European Championships as group runner-up, which they won against Eiholzer / Gerson. In the last sixteen they were defeated by the German duo Borger / Büthe in the tie- break. In the following majors in Poreč and Klagenfurt they finished ninth and fifth. As the best Swiss team in the Olympic rankings, they qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . There they were defeated in the preliminary round by the US duo Walsh / Ross only in the tie-break and came third in the group of sixteen, in which they had to admit defeat to the later Olympic champions Ludwig / Walkenhorst. At the FIVB season finale in Toronto Forrer / Vergé-Dépré won the game for third place against the Brazilian duo Larissa / Talita with 2-0. Isabelle Forrer then ended her international career.
