Tanja Goricanec (born January 4, 1990 in Riazzino ) is a Swiss volleyball and beach volleyball player .
Career
As a young player, Goricanec achieved some successes in the hall. By 2008 she was Swiss Junior Champion eight times. Her volleyball career started at SAG Gordola. In the 2004/05 season, Goricanec moved to GSGV Giubiasco, with whom they made the promotion from the Ticino regional league to the national league B within two years. In the 2008/09 season, the central attacker with the Volleyteam Bellinzona succeeded in promotion to the National League A and the move into the Swiss Cup final, which her team lost to VC Kanti Schaffhausen . A year later she led Volley Future Köniz into the National League B.
As a beach volleyball player, Goricanec was also successful in youth competitions. In 2004, when she was 14, she played on the Swiss Junior Beach Tour for the first time and became the Swiss U18 champion with Taryn Sciarini. From 2005 to 2007 she was Swiss champion three times in a row in the U21 class. She also took two fifth places at the U18 European Championships in Ukraine in 2005 and in Slovakia in 2006 and won bronze at the 2007 tournament in the Czech Republic. She finished fourth in the U19 World Championships in Bermuda in 2006 and in Brighton in 2008 . The same result was there at the national Swiss championship in 2008. During these years Goricanec played mostly with Tayrn and Sharon Sciarini . In 2007 she finished ninth with Marlen Brunner in Mysłowice .
In Blackpool , Goricanec joined Muriel Grässli in 2009 due to the failure of their actual partner . Since the Grand Slam in Gstaad in 2010, the Swiss women, who met at the association's national performance center in Bern , have formed a solid duo that finished ninth at the European Championships in Berlin . At the 2011 World Cup, Grässli / Goricanec were eliminated in the main round against the later finalists Larissa / Juliana . In 2011 the duo Grässli / Goricanec finished third at the Swiss championship in Bern. Like its teammate, Goricanec was supported by the “Golden Talents” initiative. After the 2012 season, Grässli / Goricanec announced their separation.
From 2013 to 2015 Goricanec formed a duo with Tanja Hüberli . Together with her she became Swiss champion in 2013. As the best result on the world tour, Goricanec / Hüberli took fifth place at the Grand Slam in Moscow . At the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki Goricanec / Hüberli were eliminated after the preliminary round despite a victory over the Czechs Bonnerová / Hermannová . In 2014 they became vice European champions in Sardinia .
