history

The Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt was founded in 1999 as an orchestra for the new century. The first projects paved the way for the orchestra's stylistic alignment : Accompanying the soprano Sarah Brightman on her European tours and gala appearances with the New York Met baritone Bruno Caproni . In the gala area, for example, the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt was engaged by the Autostadt Wolfsburg for two years for regular gala concerts from its opening in 1999 . Since 2004 the orchestra has been performing its own full-length classical crossover production as part of the Festival of Lights in the Büsing Park in Offenbach. The Philharmonie also plays annually in the Hanau-Wilhelmsbad Palace Park on the Wilhelmsbad Summer Night . Both events are the largest open-air classical music in the Rhine-Main region.

In 2005 the Neue Philharmonie settled down. The city of Offenbach am Main invited the orchestra to take its seat in the Capitol Theater (Offenbach) . In the following year, the first symphony concert series of the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt started here under the name Capitol Classic Lounge . There was also a silent film with live orchestral accompaniment, including an almost complete cycle of Charlie Chaplin's greatest masterpieces . In 2009 a second series of concerts was added, the more classical Congress Park Symphony in Hanau.

Until 2018, the legal form of the orchestra was a GmbH with two partners: Dirk Eisermann (booking, management) and Ralph Philipp Ziegler (artistic director). On January 1, 2018, the two separated amicably. Dirk Eisermann remained managing director of the Neue Philharmonie Frankfurt, the artistic direction and chief conducting took over the former guest conductor Jens Troester.

Ralph Philipp Ziegler has been running the Capitol Classic Lounge with the newly founded orchestra "Capitol Symphonie Orchester" since the 2019 season.
