Orange blue

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Orange Blue is a German pop group consisting of Volkan Baydar (singer and composer) (* 1971) and Vince Bahrdt (songwriter, piano and drums) (* 1971).

Band history

Orange Blue first met in 1992 to make music together. The soul cover band, in which Vince Bahrdt was the drummer, was looking for a singer via an advertisement in the Hamburg trendy magazine Oxmox , and Volkan Baydar got in touch. First appearances as The Question followed. When that band finally broke up, Baydar and Bahrdt stayed behind.

Orange Blue was soon producing their own songs together and trying to get contracts with well-known record companies. However, the desired success did not materialize and both musicians had to make do with various part-time jobs.

In 2000 they released their debut single She's Got That Light . They sold over 400,000 units in German-speaking countries and thus achieved gold status. 2000 ProSieben used the song for the talk show Arabella as theme music. Her next debut album, In Love With a Dream, sold 350,000 copies and also received gold . Orange Blue were nominated for Echo 2001 as Newcomer of the Year . Orange Blue has now sold more than a million records.

In addition, the Hamburg artists have already worked for US cinema several times and have worked on the soundtracks to films such as Walt Disney's Dinosaurs and the film America's Sweethearts with Julia Roberts and Catherine Zeta-Jones .

Orange Blue then separated from their producer and management team and produced their third album, Panta Rhei , with various producers in Hamburg , Frankfurt am Main , Munich , Oslo , Los Angeles and most of them in New York with Mark Plati, who had already made a name for himself with David Bowie , The Cure , Dido , Suzanne Vega , Tina Turner and Prince .

In 2005 Orange Blue took part in the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the title A Million Teardrops , but only came third.

Both musicians are active in other music projects. Vince Bahrdt was also involved in 2016 as a co-producer on three songs for Udo Lindenberg's album " Stark wie Zwei" .

The double album White | was released on February 14, 2020 Weiss , half of which consists of English and, for the first time, German songs. The first single Love Is Here was released on May 24, 2019 and the second single Echter Freund from this work on August 30, 2019 ; the latter is the first Orange Blue song ever published in German.
