In contrast to the previous year , there was no cooperation with the music broadcaster VIVA , which is why less well-known names were among the participants. Instead, according to NDR entertainment director Jürgen Meier-Beer, the record companies who put candidates for the preliminary round were asked to orient themselves towards the international chances of success. The level of awareness in Germany has no relevance for this.

What was new was that this time some participants were supported by prominent sponsors who introduced their protégé in a film. As expressed Udo Lindenberg his muse Ellen ten Damme thumbs while Heinz Rudolf Kunze for the Avenue of the cosmonauts began.

It is noteworthy that three former casting show participants were represented in the final . Gracia met her former competitor Nicole Süßmilch from Germany is looking for the superstar , Marco Matias had participated in The German Voice 2003 . In addition, both the text of Gracia's contribution Run & Hide and the text for A Miracle of Love by the duo Süßmilch / Matias came from the pen of Bernd Opinion .

The Mannheim band Königwerq , who performed with the heavily pregnant singer Dania König, and Cologne-based Villaine , who sang about her love for a woman , also attracted attention .

The Jacob Sisters wanted to compete with the song Moshammer Lives , but were not allowed to do so because they wanted to record the voice of Rudolph Moshammer, who had just been murdered, from the tape, although only live singing is allowed.

International guests such as last year's winner Ruslana Lyschytschko from Ukraine also appeared in the supporting program . Furthermore, were Patricia Kaas from France , Emma Bunton from the UK , Al di Meola from the USA and Leonid Agutin from Russia there.

The winner was determined by televoting . You could vote by phone and SMS . There were again two rounds of voting.
