Reinhold Beckmann (born February 23, 1956 in Twistringen ) is a German television presenter , football commentator and singer .

Life

Professional

After his Abitur in Syke , a stay in America and his community service , Beckmann did an apprenticeship as a radio , television and video technician . He then studied German , theater, film and television studies in Cologne . The studies he finished without a university degree.

He began his television career in 1980 as a freelancer at WDR , for which he provided contributions to the broadcast current hour . He was part of the television team that accompanied Udo Lindenberg to his concert in the Palace of the Republic on October 25, 1983. He later made a documentary about this with the filmmaker Falko Korth. From 1985 he also commented on sports broadcasts on WDR. He also moderated several entertainment programs on NDR and, together with Helge Schneider, the program Off-Show on WDR television . In 1990 he was named "best presenter of the year" by the soccer sports magazine for reports from the 1990 World Cup .

Beckmann switched from ARD to Premiere in 1990 , where he became head of the sports department. From 1992 he was head of sports at Sat.1 and he became known to a wide audience through the sports programs ran and ranissimo, which he designed and moderated . For these two formats he was awarded the Golden Camera , the Bavarian TV Prize and the Golden Romy (Austrian TV Prize). In 1993 he became head of programming at Sat.1.

In 1998 he returned to ARD, where he has since appeared as a commentator on football broadcasts for UEFA Cup and international matches and as a sports show presenter. In November 2016 it was announced that Beckmann would only be seen in the sports show until the end of the current 2016/17 season . On May 6, 2017, he hosted his last broadcast. He was also a reporter for numerous major sporting events such as the 2004 European Football Championship ; he commented on the broadcast of the 2006 World Cup final for ARD . He also presented the entertainment program Guinness - The Show of Records for her from 1998 to 2002 . From 1999 to 2014 he had his own talk show Beckmann on ARD .

In 2010 Beckmann played a supporting role in the Tatort episode Borowski and A Question of Pure Taste . He played himself in the movie His Last Race , which premiered in 2013 : He hosted Dieter Hallervorden as Olympic champion Paul Averhoff on his talk show Beckmann .

In March 2014 Beckmann & Band released the first music album, Bei alles anyway .

From February 2015 to May 2017, the report series #Beckmann ran on ARD.

Beckmann has been an expert on the Sport1 football talk show Doppelpass since January 2018 .

In March 2018, Beckmann & Band's second music album was released with Free Play .

From July to August 2018, his talk show Reinhold Beckmann meets ... was on NDR television . Since September 2018 he has hosted the music talk show NDR 2 Life Sounds on the radio station NDR 2 .

In 2020 he appeared on the game show Did you know? as an expert on the subject of Helmut Schmidt .

He is the managing director and sole shareholder of the production company beckground tv .

Private

Beckmann is a Catholic denomination; as a child he was an altar boy in his home town of Twistringen. He is married and has two children with his wife (* 1993 and 1997). The family lives in Hamburg . Beckmann used to play soccer himself and had two appearances in the Lower Saxony selection. He is a member of the FC St. Pauli club .

Beckmann is committed to social projects and founded the Nestwerk initiative with friends in Hamburg in 1999 , which takes care of young people in disadvantaged Hamburg districts. From 2005 to 2014 and 2016 he invited to the day of legends . Over 50 football “legends” such as Paul Breitner , Klaus Fischer , Uli and Dieter Hoeneß , Horst Hrubesch , Felix Magath , Andreas Möller , Uwe Seeler and Rudi Völler played for the initiative in Hamburg's Millerntor Stadium .

criticism

In one episode of his talk show Beckmann , the presenter and Nina Ruge represented positions to Norbert Blüm that were rated by parts of the German press as extremely positive in relation to the private insurance industry. From 2006 onwards, Beckmann had advertised the WWK insurance group , among other things .

In 2019, Beckmann came under fire after a video was published showing him performing at a birthday party at Matthias Matussek's in a circle of right-wing extremists.
