Hamburg 1 is a private Hamburg Regional - TV station . It has a technical range of around 1.9 million households and broadcasts beyond the city limits, by cable to Kaltenkirchen , Büchen , Harsefeld and Lüneburg . It has been included in Vodafone Kabel Deutschland's digital programming since April 25, 2013. The broadcaster has been represented on the IPTV platform Telekom Entertain since December 1, 2011 .

On May 3, 1995, at 6 a.m., Hamburg 1 went on air, the city's first and only commercial local television station. Mayor Henning Voscherau then pressed the red button.
In the 1990s, Hamburg 1 took over the television program from Super RTL as a cover program and only produced regional magazine programs . On January 6, 2011, a TV duel between Olaf Scholz and Christoph Ahlhaus took place live in Hamburg 1. The organizers were Hamburg 1 , Radio Hamburg , Oldie 95 and BILD Hamburg . Since 1999 Hamburg 1 has organized the annual TV gala Hamburger of the Year , in which outstanding personalities of the past year are honored.
From April 2001 to July 2002 the then quite popular cover program of Sun-TV was broadcast on Hamburg1. When Sun TV there was a television channel of the Kirch group , which his program spread exclusively through various metropolitan stations in Germany, making successful formats like Blondes Gift with Barbara Schöneberger and WIB-swing with Wigald Boning also were received in Hamburg. Founding shareholders in 1995 were Frank Otto (24%), Axel Springer AG (24%), Time Warner (24%), the Deutsche Fernsehnachrichten Agentur (DFA) (24%), Werner E. Klatten (2%) and Ingo Borsum (2nd %), who took over the management. After Frank Otto relinquished the management of the company as a founding partner, this role was initially taken over by Time Warner, then the newly added Kirch Group (2000), after its insolvency the DFA (2002) and at the end of 2003 the management (Schmidt, Schwaner, Borsum and Bertram ) as Almond Media Beteiligungs GmbH . The shares were taken over in 2011 by the Swiss Michel Medien , the Hamburg Nikolaus Broschek and - until March 2015 - the Triangle . In summer 2013, Frank Otto took over the shares in Axel Springer AG.
