Ulrich Ernst Johannes "Uli" Pingel (born March 26, 1977 in Hamburg ) is a German television presenter and sports journalist .

biography

Uli Pingel grew up in Hamburg and , after graduating from high school , volunteered at the German television news agency . At the age of 25, he stood in front of the camera on Lokal-TV Hamburg 1 and quickly became head of sport and main presenter of the weekly sports program . From 2009 to 2013, Pingel also presented the daily soccer program Bundesliga Aktuell and the sports news Sport1 News on Sport1 , alternating with Thomas Helmer , Oliver Schwesinger and Sascha Bandermann . Then he took over the management of the North Germany editorial team at Sport1. From 2010 he was also a newscaster for the television program Journal der Deutsche Welle and from August 2011 was active as a columnist at goal.com for a few months .

In addition Pingel various events, including the moderates Hamburger Sport Gala , as well as other programs in Hamburg 1 as the sports roundtable injury time , he together with Thorsten Laussch headed. Pingel also offers moderator training.

Pingel was dismissed without notice in spring 2018 due to a complaint of sexual harassment of a volunteer at the Hamburg 1 station. At the end of April 2018, the Hamburg public prosecutor initiated an investigation on suspicion of sexual assault. Pingel denied the allegations.

On July 1, 2019, he took up the post of editor-in-chief at the broadcaster Sportdigital , in the same year he was also a co-founder of a media production company and was managing director of the company.

Private

Uli Pingel is married and has three children. He lives in Hamburg and is involved in sports there.
