Melf Grantz

Melf Grantz (born May 22, 1962 in Bremerhaven ) has been Lord Mayor of Bremerhaven since January 3, 2011 .
Life
Grantz visited the Bürgerpark school center (now: Carl von Ossietzky school center ) in Bremerhaven. After graduating from high school in 1981, he studied law at the University of Bremen from 1982 to 1987 . From 1988 he worked as a lawyer .
1987 Grantz was used for the SPD in the city council selected Bremerhaven. From 1990 to 2002 he held the office of honorary city councilor (department head) for youth and family. From 2002 to 2008 he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the city council. From March 1st, 2008 until his appointment as Lord Mayor of Bremerhaven, he was a full-time city councilor for social affairs, youth and family. As Lord Mayor Grantz succeeds his party colleague Jörg Schulz , who took a leave of absence from the Mayor's office from January 1, 2011 until the end of his term of office on November 30, 2011.
Grantz is married and has two children. He is a member of the supervisory board of the Bremer Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft .
