Programming

The main moderators during the week are John Ment , André Kuhnert , Birgit Hahn, Anke Hanisch, and Tim Gafron. The news is read every hour (every half hour in the morning) by Rainer Hirsch, Ines Wiese, Rahel Kakies, Carolina Koplin, Daniela Reineke and others.

  • From June 22, 2015 to the end of August 2017, the joint night program of Radio Hamburg and radio ffn die Nordnacht ran , moderated by Felix Rumpf. At the end of August 2017, the project was discontinued on the grounds that both channels wanted to put together something of their own again. Since then, the automatic music loop has also been running at Radio Hamburg at night.
  • The main presenter of the morning show, John Ment , will receive support from weather presenter Birgit Hahn and traffic jam pilot André Kuhnert on his show from 5:00 to 10:00 . In the morning program there is traffic news every half hour. The quiz Who beats John (see Who beats John ) has been part of the program since 2009 . In the holiday or illness of John member is André who strikes played with André Kuhnert. Until December 2015 Horst Hoof was co-host of the show.
  • Anke Hanisch competes in the morning from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays. A program element in the morning is the job exchange for job placement.
  • The afternoon runs from 2 to 7 p.m. with Tim Gafron. This will be moderated by Tim Gafron. The latest mega hits are presented.
  • From 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (Monday to Thursday) the music request program Wish You What is broadcast. Here the listeners can design the music program themselves, either via Facebook, telephone or the contact form on the broadcaster's homepage. It will be presented by various colleagues from the moderator team until October 2019.

Then Christian Stübinger takes over the show. The broadcaster advertises the show as the longest dream show in the world. The Destination Dancefloor will be on Friday and Saturday from 7:00 p.m. The first hour is led by DJ Jerome from Kontor Records, then on Friday until 01:00 am, accompanied by moderation, “Destination Dancefloor” runs. Then the moderator initiates the “longest playlist in town” and megahits will be played non-stop until 6:00 am on Saturday. On Saturday, the moderation ends at 8:00 pm and the "party sound of the city" takes over the radio until midnight and plays party hits non-stop (destination dance floor). The new Radio Hamburg anthem from “Hamburger Arroganz” introduces the “longest playlist in town” at midnight, and megahits run non-stop until 7:00 am on Sunday.

  • At the weekend, information, sport and entertainment are the main focus. In the afternoon at half past the hour, before the weather and traffic information, the current scores of the first Bundesliga are read out on Radio Hamburg Fußball Sofort .
  • The morning show will be moderated on Saturday between 6 and 10 a.m. by Onni Schlebusch and Daniela Reineke. On Saturday morning, Jan Merseburger, Insa Struve and Jonas Salto can be heard alternately from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Afterwards, Rouven Lovett will moderate from 3 to 7 p.m. The 20 most popular titles in Germany, compiled from four charts: the sales, iTunes , Spotify and Shazam charts, run between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. These are advertised as "The City's Most Accurate Charts". Until mid-2017, Christoph Kröger moderated an extended form ( Radio Hamburg 2x20 - the Top 40). The broadcast was spread over both days of the weekend, so on Saturday the places 40 to 21 were played and on Sunday the remaining places.
  • On Sunday, the “Radio Hamburg church broadcast” with Natalie Strauss runs from 07:00 to 09:00, followed by the “Radio Hamburg weekend” until 19:00. The program will be moderated by Natalie Strauss until 11:00 a.m., Lasse Lehmann from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Linda Stahl from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Another category is the hammer hit vor voll since the end of summer 2017. These each form the last title of a full hour. A currently very successful title is being played here. This is advertised as " one of the absolute favorite hits." Before the news at full, the Radio Hamburg Diversity Surprise ran . Titles were played that fall out of the usual music program. Until March 2015, the Radio Hamburg Diversity Hammer ran at this point , this was always a title that was not played for a long time.
  • Between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., the station plays music every hour at around 20 minutes past the hour for half an hour without a break. During this time, the broadcaster does without the usual weather and traffic service every half hour.

Stars For Free

In 2019, Radio Hamburg presented the "Stars For Free" event in Hamburg for the first time. "Stars For Free" is Germany's largest free music event with concerts in various cities, each of which is sponsored by local radio stations. The Hamburg concert took place on August 17th in the Barclaycard Arena . "Stars For Free" was invented in 1997 by the radio station 104.6 RTL and has been held annually ever since. The 11,000 tickets for the Hamburg concert could only be won at Radio Hamburg. Felix Jaehn , Nico Santos , Lena , Matt Simons , Madcon , Alma , Lukas Rieger and DJ Jerome from Kontor Records performed at the Hamburg concert . The event was moderated by the moderators John Ment , Birgit Hahn and Tim Gafron.

Easter mega-hit marathon

Since 1989 there has been an Easter mega hit marathon every year (until 2001 Easter hit marathon), in which the Radio Hamburg listeners vote for their favorite songs. Marzel Becker and Stephan Heller wanted to give the Port of Hamburg a present for its 800th birthday and decided to play a title for each year of the port. Since it takes three days to play all titles, it takes place every year from Holy Saturday up to and including Easter Monday . The finale with the 20 most requested songs will be celebrated at Speersort (since 2009: Mönckebergstraße) after it was held temporarily in the Volksparkstadion and the Color Line Arena . In 2008 there were around 15,000 people. Radio Hamburg plays one more track every year (depending on the port's birthday). The final has been held in Mönckebergstraße since 2011. The winning song of 2014 came from Pharrell Williams with " Happy ", in 2015 it was the title " Cheerleader " from OMI in the Felix Jaehn remix . In 2017 Ed Sheeran won over the audience with "Shape Of You". Sheeran won again in 2018, this time with his song Perfect . In 2019 Ava Max won with Sweet but Psycho .

The 20 most popular titles from all past years can be found in the main article on the Easter megahit marathon .

Who beats John

Stand for Who beats John xxl

Who beats John has been around since 2009. In the quiz, which runs Monday to Friday at 7:10 am, Radio Hamburg listeners have to compete against John Ment . Since Anke Hanisch is on parental leave, moderator Birgit Hahn asks the questions from these 13 categories:

  • "shit" geography
  • movie theater
  • Art & Literature
  • music
  • Hamburg
  • Sports
  • VIPs
  • Eat Drink
  • watch TV
  • Digital
  • Letter salad
  • maths
  • joker

The categories and questions are determined by a random generator. Anyone who thinks they know the answer calls their name. If the answer is correct, he gets one point, if the answer is wrong, it goes to the opponent. Up to three different questions are asked. If there is still no winner, the jackpot rises and the candidate starts again after the tie in the next morning broadcast. The quiz starts with 103.60 euros , depending on the frequency of the station . If the listener loses or John Ment wins, the jackpot rises to 200 euros. In the following games, the jackpot is increased by a further 100 euros until John Ment is hit by a listener and the listener wins the jackpot. In autumn 2010 there was the special quiz Who beats John XXL for the first time . It was about 20,000, in a second round 30,000 and in 2012 the last 20,000 euros. At the end of 2014 there was a celebrity special in which celebrity guests played against John Ment for a good cause. These included u. a. Das Bo , Roberto Blanco , Marcel Reif , Michaela Schaffrath and Peter Kloeppel .

Comedy

In the program some nationally known comedians run with excerpts from their live programs. The station's own comedy editorial team also writes and produces its own elements:

  • Radio Hamburg News-Show : Current events are presented in a humorous way in this fictional news program. The characters Jessica Burmeister, constantly changing interview partners and the reporter Olli Hansen are spoken by the Hamburg comedian Buddy Ogün . Radio Hamburg Comedy boss Didi Simon speaks the role of the news anchor Peter von Rumpold. The comedy runs daily Monday through Friday at 5:40 a.m., 7:17 p.m. and 5:20 p.m. In addition, all episodes are available online on the station homepage.
  • "Lassma-Bin-Satt": An insight into the structures and machinations of the fictional Arab family clan of Lassma-Bin-Satt is given. He introduces his family who are involved in illegal activities. The comedy always runs on weekdays at 9:10 a.m.
  • "Fact or stupid?": Monday to Friday at 6:10 am and 8:10 am, three statements are made and the candidate has to decide whether a fact has been mentioned or whether the statement is "stupid", i. H. is not true. The candidate has the chance of at least 50 euros a day if he is correct. If the current candidate does not win, the money ends up in the jackpot and the profit increases for the next candidate.

Listeners help children

Since 1988 the station has been collecting with Radio Hamburg Listeners Help Children e. V. donate for needy children and families in the broadcasting area. Various campaigns and calls for radio have raised over 4 million euros since the beginning. The money is collected all year round, increasingly around Christmas time and in the donation marathon with prominent support until shortly before Christmas Eve .

Further program actions

  • Radio Hamburg listeners: The station plays the game Radio Hamburg listeners with the listeners at irregular intervals . A sound is played to the listener on the radio and he has to guess how it is created. With every wrong tip, the jackpot increases by a predetermined amount. In October 2005, the broadcaster paid out the highest ever cash profit on North German radio: 164,000 euros. Since the first round of the game, according to their own information, more than one million euros have been raised.
  • Radio Hamburg Money Ment: The presenter of the morning program, John Ment , pays the bills submitted by listeners as Money Ment - provided that the listener reports within a certain period of time after his bill has been read out in the program.
  • Mama Cash: In 1999, 2001 and 2012 the station Mama Cash played with the listeners. When registered listeners call back the station on the phone with the cash code and the claim "Radio Hamburg - More variety with the mega hits of the 90s, 2000s and today's best", the fictional Mama Cash money printing machine is activated. It prints the amount to the listener and he decides whether the amount should be increased or he accepts the winnings. The amount increases at will, but can also drop to zero and the listener is left empty-handed. In 2012, up to 5,000 euros were possible per game round.
  • Radio Hamburg program manager: The station regularly asks its listeners for ideas on programming. This campaign resulted in, for example: the desired program Alles geht (weekdays from 5 to 6 p.m. and every Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m.), the live hour (every Wednesday from 8 p.m.), the mashup . Every idea implemented was rewarded with a cash prize of 500 euros.
  • Radio Hamburg Mega-Talent: In 2008/2009 and 2010/2011 the station hosted the Radio Hamburg Mega-Talent casting . In this casting, talent in the fields of singing and entertainment could apply. The jury consisted of three people who gave their opinion on the talent of the participants after the candidate had appeared. The jury decided whether the candidate would advance or not. Shortly before the end of the campaign, Radio Hamburg listeners were able to vote for the best candidates for the final by online voting. At the end of the casting show, the competitors faced each other in the recording studio for the final. The talent with the most votes was the Radio Hamburg Mega Talent and rewarded with a prize of 20,000 or 25,000 euros.
  • Radio Hamburg's next weather fairy: In 2008, the station looked for a new weather expert for the morning broadcast through a casting. The listeners applied for the moderation job with videos they had shot themselves. In the end, the listeners voted for their favorite among the finalists via online voting. The winner was Sarah Berg, who switched to radio station RPR1 in 2011 . The presenters Lasse Lehmann and Natalie Strauss also emerged from this casting.
  • Radio Hamburg @ School: In November 2014, the station gave away a concert by [Adel Tawil] among all schools in Hamburg. The concert took place on November 19, 2014 in the Geschwister-Scholl district school in Hamburg-Lurup.

If you come from the capital, we give a shit about you and your song [...] ) “ Because of the continued extensive criticism that u. a. also included massive threats against the presenter Horst Hoof, Radio Hamburg has changed the text “If you come from Aue, your parents are probably siblings.” changed to “If you come from Aue, go hiking in the Ore Mountains.”
