Felix Jaehn (born August 28, 1994 in Hamburg ; actually written Felix Jähn ) is a German DJ and music producer of deep house and tropical house .

Life

Private life

Jaehn was born in Hamburg, but grew up near Boltenhagen on the Baltic Sea coast in Klützer Winkel near Wismar ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ) and took violin lessons at the age of six . From the age of 16 he was booked for individual club appearances as part of his DJ project Felicious Beats, which he realized with his brother and friends. At the Ernst-Barlach-Gymnasium in Schönberg he passed the Abitur. At 17, Jaehn moved to London for a year and attended Point Blank Music School there . In addition to his mostly self-taught DJ skills, he continued his education here, especially in the field of music production. Jaehn then moved to Berlin to study business administration at the Humboldt University . In an interview with ZEITmagazin , Jaehn came out as bisexual on February 22, 2018 . He has two brothers, his mother works in the tourism industry.

Musical career

With a remix of the song Cheerleader by the Jamaican singer Omi , Jaehn achieved a worldwide hit in late 2014 / early 2015. Musically, the original by Omi, which was published in 2012, moves in the area of reggae , Felix Jaehn's remix version in the area of electro-pop and deep house . The remix version of Cheerleader reached high chart positions worldwide, including number one in Australia , Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia) , Denmark , Germany , France , the Netherlands , Austria , Sweden , Switzerland , the United Kingdom and the United States . The second single release, Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better) , a cover version of the hit of the same name by Rufus and Chaka Khan , was recorded with Jasmine Thompson in 2014 and released as a single on April 3, 2015 and became a summer hit in Germany in 2015. In September In 2015 Jaehn released the song Book of Love together with the Russian singer Polina , which reached the top 10 of the German music charts.

At the end of 2015 he founded the music project Eff together with Mark Forster , the first single voice was released on November 27, 2015 and reached number 1 in the German charts.

In January 2016, Jaehn's first mini-album was released with the self-titled Felix Jaehn EP . In April 2016 he produced with Herbert Grönemeyer and parts of the DFB - football team the team song for UEFA EURO 2016 . As a cross-generational anthem, the title Everyone for Everyone met with mixed, sometimes very critical reactions.

Bonfire was released on July 15, 2016 . The single is a cooperation with the Finnish singer-songwriter Alma Miettinen . It was initially only available as a download, later also as a physical single. The song advanced to number three in the German single charts and later reached platinum status for 400,000 units sold. At the same time he started the “Bonfire Tour” through Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

On November 17, 2016, Felix Jaehn was awarded the Bambi in the category "Entertainment" in Berlin . Similar to Cheerleader , he mixed the song Your Soul by RHODES. His remix was released on December 16, 2016, entitled Your Soul (Holding On) . In contrast to its predecessor, it only reached 96th place in Germany.

With Hot2Touch , Jaehn's first release was released on May 12, 2017. He recorded the single together with the American music producer and pop singer Alex Aiono and the British DJ and music producer Hight. The song brought Jaehn back to the top quarter of the singles charts after the rather minor success with Your Soul (Holding On) ; there was also strong support in airplay.

On August 4, 2017, Felix Jaehn released the song Feel Good , which was created in collaboration with the Dutch Future Bounce producer Mike Williams . The vocals were provided by the Danish musician Tim Schou, who was the front man of the band A Friend in London until 2014 . Two months later, the next single, Like a Riddle , was released, the vocals of which are from the Swedish duo Hearts & Colors. With Cool , Jaehn's last single was released on February 9, 2018. The song was created with the US R&B singer Marc E. Bassy and the rapper Gucci Mane, also from the USA . One week later, Jaehn's debut album I was released on February 16, 2018. On June 22, 2018, I Remixed, a remix version of the debut album, was released. At the same time, Keep Your Head Up, a collaboration with the French musician Damien N-Drix, appeared. At the end of the year, So Close, a collaboration with the Swedish DJ duo NOTD , was released, and guest musicians were the American music producer trio Captain Cuts and the British singer-songwriter Georgia Ku.

On June 28, 2019, Jaehn released the single Love on Myself together with the British pop singer Calum Scott . In terms of content, the piece takes up the themes of “self-acceptance” and “self-love”. After the piece initially missed the charts, the piece finally made it into the official German single charts after two months and became Jaehn's 14th chart hit as an artist in Germany. The collaboration Close Your Eyes with the German music project Vize was released on November 22, 2019 . The Swedish singer Miss Li was won over as a guest singer . The electro pop piece about mental health reached number 21 in the single charts in Germany and was Jaehn's 15th chart success.

On February 7th, 2020 Jaehn released Thank You [Not So Bad], a cover version of the original by Dido from 1998. As with Close Your Eyes , Jaehn worked again with the German music project Vize. The single was placed in the German single charts for three weeks and reached its highest chart listing with rank 80. One month later, on March 13, 2020, the next chart hit appeared with Sicko . "Sicko", a person who mentally reaches his limits again and again and is characterized by negative, sometimes disturbing thoughts, was created together with the US rapper Gashi and the Canadian singer-songwriter Faangs . The single reached number 80 in the German single charts. After Jaehn remixed Nea's Some Say earlier this year , he released the single No Therapy with her and the British soul singer - and co-author of Some Say - Bryn Christopher on August 21, 2020.
