Cheerleader is a song by the Jamaican reggae and urban pop singer Omi . The piece is the first single from Omis debut Me 4 U . The single became better known through a remix by German DJ Felix Jaehn . The remix is the second single from debut album Jähns I .
Creation and artwork
The song was written by Mark Bradford, Clifton Dillon, Ryan Dillon, Sly Dunbar and Omar Samuel Pasley (Omi). The single was produced by Clifton Dillon and Omi. The song was first released under the music label Oufah Records, later under Ultra Records and distributed under Sony Music Entertainment . On the cover of the single you can see - in addition to artist name and song title - Omi, who is illuminated by various animations. On the original version, Omi is illuminated in red, on the Felix Jaehn remix version in blue.
Publication and promotion
Cheerleader was first released as a single on July 29, 2012. The publication of Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix) took place on May 19, 2014 single. Music video
The music video for Cheerleader was filmed in Los Angeles and premiered on August 31, 2012 on Omi's YouTube profile. The video begins with Granny driving to a bank in a BMW with his girlfriend . They both have an appointment there, and she manages to wrap a banker around her finger and extract the key from him. Together they both leave the bank with their bags packed and go with their BMW to a backyard garage, where they exchange the car. At the end of the video, the two of them drive a new convertible on a highway, with Omi throwing money around while driving. The video is 2:57 minutes in total. Directed by Tim Cash. To date, it has over 19 million views on YouTube (as of April 2018)
The music video for Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix) premiered on November 5, 2014 on the Ultra Music YouTube profile. It is a compilation of the original videos. The total length of the video is 3:09 minutes. To date, the video has over a billion views on YouTube (as of June 2020).

Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix) reached number one in the single charts in Germany and was able to place itself in the charts for a total of 57 weeks, 18 weeks in the top 10 and one week at the top . In Austria the single also reached position one and was able to stay at the top for a week, 16 weeks in the top 10 and 48 weeks in the charts. In Switzerland , the single stayed at the top for two weeks, 24 weeks in the top 10 and 54 weeks in the charts. In the UK , cheerleaders topped the charts for four weeks, the top 10 for 17 weeks and the charts for 64 weeks. The single also reached the top of the charts in the United States , where it lasted six weeks, 16 weeks in the top 10 and 35 weeks in the charts. In 2015, Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix) placed first in the German and Austrian annual singles charts, as well as second in Switzerland and the United Kingdom and eleven in the United States.
