Hot2Touch ( English as "[to] hot to touch") is a song of German DJs Felix Jaehn , in cooperation with the American US music producer and pop singer Alex Aiono and the British DJ and music producer Hight. The piece is the eighth single from his debut album I .
Creation and artwork
The song was written jointly by Tim Deal (Hight), Felix Jaehn, Cass Lowe, Mark Ralph and Thomas Walker. The single was produced and programmed by Felix Jaehn and Hight. The German producer quartet Hitimpulse (consisting of: Jeremy Chacon, Jonas Kalisch, Henrik Meinke and Alexsej Vlasenko) and the American producer Mike Spencer were at their side as co-producers. The latter was also responsible for mixing and, together with Walker, for programming the drums. Spencer worked at The Lark's Tongue in Buckinghamshire . The mastering took place under the direction of the Austrian sound engineer Nikodem Milewski . The single was released under the L'Agentur, Polydor / Island and Virgin music labels and distributed by Sony / ATV Music Publishing , Spirit B-Unique Publishing and Universal Music Publishing .
On the cover of the maxi single - next to the artist name and song title - you can see a pink stripe and Jaehn's face. The pink stripe is arranged in the middle and runs vertically through the middle of the cover picture, at the bottom a white "I" is embedded, this stands for Jaehn's debut album of the same name. Jaehn's face is only partially visible at the lower right edge, against a white background. The same artwork concept can be found on the cover of the debut album as well as a few other single releases. An alternative cover picture reflects the same artwork, only the color of the stripe has been changed to blue. The photograph by Jaehn comes from Jens Koch.
Publication and promotion
The first release of Hot2Touch took place as a single download on May 12, 2017. The single was released simultaneously in a radio and an extended version as a single download. On June 30, 2017, two remix versions by the German DJ DUSK were released. A week later, two remix versions of Hot2Touch by South African DJ Kyle Watson were released. Another week later, two remixed versions of the song were released, by the British DJ Nu Aspect. A physical 2-track single was also released on July 14, 2017. This includes the radio version of Hot2Touch and a remix by Nu Aspect.
In June 2017, VIVA Germany used Hot2Touch as a commercial separator , so the song was played at the beginning and end of all commercial breaks. RTL used the song as theme music for the reality show Das Sommerhaus der Stars - Kampf der Promipaare in 2017 and 2018.

The lyrics to Hot2Touch are in English. The two in the title stands for “to” ( English for “to”), this is a common abbreviation in everyday English due to the same pronunciation. Translated into German, the title means "too hot to touch". The music and lyrics were co-written by Tim Deal (Hight), Felix Jaehn, Cass Lowe, Mark Ralph and Thomas Walker. Musically, the song moves in the area of house and pop music . The tempo is 122 beats per minute .
The piece is built up on two stanzas and a bridge as well as a refrain between the stanzas, the bridge and at the end of the song. The main song of the song comes from Aiono alone; Hight and Jaehn can only be heard in the background, along with the voice of Bertie Spencer. The instrumentalists include Kat Deal (saxophone and trumpet), Michael Geldreich (keyboard), Hight (guitar and keyboard), Robert Keßler (guitar), Vincent Kottkamp (bass) and Mike Spencer (bass, electric bass and keyboard). In terms of content, Hot2Touch is about a man who desires a woman who, however, is not easy for him to have. According to Jaehn, the work on the piece dragged on over two years.

Music video
A total of two music videos have been released for Hot2Touch . First, a lyric video premiered on May 11, 2017 on YouTube . You can see symbols , keywords and passages of text , as you know it from typical poetry videos, which are shown at the appropriate point. For the most part, only the colors red, black and white are used. The total length of the video is 2:41 minutes. Directed by Daniel Breuer.
On July 24, 2017, the official music video for Hot2Touch celebrated its premiere on the Billboard homepage . The video was filmed in East London on June 29, 2017. In this, Aiono, Hight and Jaehn can be seen together with their friends in different locations. The video can be divided into three sections. On the one hand, the video shows the group dancing in an old building. On the other hand, the daily routine with different activities of the group can be seen. In the third and last scene you can see everyone celebrating together on the roof of a building. The total length of the video is 2:44 minutes. British director Carly Cussen directed it. To date, both music videos have over 6.4 million clicks on YouTube (as of August 2017).

The General German Dance Teachers Association classified the song as a dance recommendation for the Discofox . Tatiana Cirisano from Billboard described the song as "euphoric", "punchy" and a "party soundtrack".
Charts and chart placements
Hot2Touch reached position twelve in the single charts in Germany and was in the charts for a total of 26 weeks. In addition, the single is at the top of the German airplay charts for two weeks . In Austria , the single reached position 14 in 23 chart weeks and in Switzerland position 49 in 19 chart weeks. In 2017, the single was position 43 in the single annual charts in Germany and position 54 in Austria. In the German airplay annual charts, the single was in ninth position, making it the third most played title by a German artist after OK ( Robin Schulz ) and No Roots ( Alice Merton ).
For Jaehn as an interpreter, this, including the chart success with his music project Eff, is already the eighth chart success in Germany and his seventh in Austria and Switzerland. As a music producer, this is his seventh chart success in Germany and his sixth in Austria and Switzerland. As an author, this is Jaehn's sixth chart success in Germany and the fifth in Austria and Switzerland. For Ralph as an author, this is the third chart success in all DA-CH countries after King ( Years & Years ) and Your Soul (Holding On) ( RHODES vs. Felix Jaehn). For Lowe as a writer, Hot2Touch is the second chart success in all three countries after All My Friends ( Snakehips feat. Tinashe & Chance the Rapper ). Aiono, Hight and Walker reached the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland for the first time with one work.

Awards for music sales
In January 2018, Hot2Touch in Germany was awarded a platinum record for over 400,000 units sold. The single was awarded a gold record in Italy and Austria. Hot2Touch was thus awarded two gold and one platinum records for over 440,000 units sold across Europe. For Jaehn, Hot2Touch is the sixth single to have achieved at least gold status in Germany. Aiono and Hight received a phonogram certification for the first time.
