Tinashe Kachingwe (2015)

Tinashe Jørgenson Kachingwe (born February 6, 1993 in Lexington , Kentucky ), known as Tinashe , is an American actress , singer and dancer . She was a member of the five-piece girl group The Stunners .

Life & Career

Tinashe Kachingwe was born and raised in Kentucky . Her parents are from Zimbabwe and Northern Europe . At the age of 14, she took on a speaking role in an episode of the animated series Franklin - A Turtle Conquers the World . After finishing school, she went to Los Angeles to work as an actress and model. In 2000 she had a first minor role in the television film Cora Unashamed and in the following years she had other engagements, including as a spokeswoman in the animated series Holly Hobbie and Friends and in 2008/09 as an actress in three episodes of Two and a Half Men .

2007–2011: Started his career with The Stunners

Tinashe (2010)

In 2007 Tinashe became a member of the pop band The Stunners , a group of five actresses. They released an EP in 2009 and had a top 20 hit on the AC charts at the end of the year with Santa Bring My Soldier Home . They also played the opening act at the first concerts of Justin Bieber's My World Tour in June and July 2010. However, an album did not materialize and so the group broke up in 2011.

2012–2014: Mixtape releases and debut album Aquarius

Tinashe then focused on a solo career as an R&B musician. In early 2012 Tinashe published her first mixtape In Case We Die and in the same year her second mixtape Reverie on her website. She signed a record deal with RCA Records . In 2013 came their third mixtape, Black Water, which includes the single Vulnerable (feat. Travis Scott ). In 2014 her international breakthrough came with the single 2 On with Schoolboy Q as a guest rapper. It became a top 5 hit on the US R&B charts and went platinum . This was followed by the album Aquarius , with which she made it to number 3 on the R&B charts and into the top 20 of the official charts . She was also able to place herself in the charts in Australia and England.

2015-2018: Amethyst mix tape, second album Joyride and Nightride mix tape

On March 16, 2015, Tinashe released her fourth mixtape Amethyst as a free download on her website. The mixtape contains, among other things, a sample of the song Bounce 2 by Kanye West in the song Wanderer . That same year, she appeared with Ciara and Jason Derulo at the 2015 BET Awards with a dance tribute to Janet Jackson . She had further success in the following years as a guest singer on Body Language by Kid Ink , All My Friends by Snakehips , Slumber Party by Britney Spears and Text from Your Ex by Tinie Tempah . In autumn 2015 she had another hit of her own with Player , which was released in anticipation of her announced second studio album, Joyride .

During 2016, Tinashe released new singles such as Party Favors (feat. Young Thug ), Energy (feat. Juicy J ), Ride Of Your Life, Superlove and Company, and then went on tour to promote her second studio album. However, the tour was canceled because Tinashe wanted to finish producing and releasing her second studio album first, so the planned concerts in Europe were canceled. Since the release of the album was pushed back due to less label support and the failures of the released singles, she put some songs that she had originally written and produced for Joyride on her fifth mixtape "Nightride", which was released on April 4th November 2016. This is her first mixtape that she made available on all streaming services. The mixtape receives, among other things, an expanded version of the pre-released single Company , which is probably the only lead single of the mixtape, the promo singles Ride Of Your Life and Party Favors (the solo version without Young Thug) and new songs like Lucid Dreaming, Sunburn, Soul Glitch, Spacetime and Touch Pass. In addition, her mixtape Nightride landed at No. 16 of the 20 best R&B albums of 2016 at Rolling Stone . The Nightride mixtape by Tinashe is also considered her second studio album, because Nightride is the first part of a double album, the second part ( Joyride ) was foreseen for release in 2017, as Tinashe explained in an interview. Many also consider it a counterpart to Joyride as the mixtape has a darker, nocturnal and dreamy sound, while Joyride has a more moody, summery sound.

On March 16, 2017, Tinashe released the single Flame because her label wanted to promote this song as the lead single of Joyride , but Tinashe declined because she wanted creative control over her music. It wasn't until mid-2017 that her album Joyride began to take shape.

In early 2018, Tinashe posted cryptic videos on Instagram announcing three new singles for Joyride . The first song No Drama (with Offset as a guest rapper) was released in January 2018. The music video for the song premiered on the MTV program Total Request Live (TRL for short) in the USA. In an interview with Beats 1 radio station, Tinashe stated that Joyride was done and she was ready to release the record. The second song Faded Love followed on February 12, 2018 (with Future as a guest rapper). The vertical music video for the single was released a few days later exclusively on the streaming provider Spotify . In March, Tinashe announced the official release date of Joyride and also posted the album cover on Instagram. The third single Me So Bad (with Ty Dolla Sign and French Montana as guest musicians) was released on March 30, 2018 along with the pre-order of Joyride , which was then released on April 13, 2018. The album reached number 58 on the Billboard Top 200 charts and was number 6 on the UK R&B album charts, but was unable to build on the success of their debut album Aquarius .

2018 - 2019: Nashe, Dancing With The Stars, Rent-Live, separation from RCA Records & Songs For You

Shortly after the release of Joyride , Tinashe announced a new music project with producer Hitmaka named Nashe . For this she had previously released the singles Like I Used T and Throw A Fit . In August 2018 Hitmaka announced that this project had been canceled by the Tinashes label RCA Records due to the failure of the two singles. Nevertheless, some songs from this project ( Fashion Nova , Grip , Link Up ) as well as a lot of unreleased material from the RCA studio sessions of their two albums ( Aquarius , Joyride ) were leaked onto the Internet. In the fall of 2018, Tinashe and her dance partner Brandon Armstrong took part in the American dance show Dancing with the Stars ; after a few successful rounds they were eliminated as the fourth couple from the competition.

The US broadcaster Fox broadcast a real film version of the musical Rent called Rent: Live on January 27, 2019 . B. Vanessa Hudgens played a leading role, namely that of the HIV-infected stripper "Mimi Marquez".

In February 2019, Tinashes manager announced the separation of the artist from RCA Records. In November 2019, she announced that she had signed a management contract with Jay Z 's Roc Nation label. Tinashe announced a new album called Songs For You back in October . As a result, she released two singles from the mixtape with the titles "Die A Little Bit" (with the rapper Ms Banks as a guest musician) and "Touch & Go" (with 6lack as a guest musician). The album was eventually released independently on November 21, 2019. The album reached the top of the US iTunes charts and received mostly positive reviews from critics. The album includes songs that were originally produced for Nashe (Link Up, Cash Race & Feelings)
