Juicy J.
Juicy J (born April 5, 1975 in Memphis , Tennessee; actually Jordan Michael Houston ) is an American rapper and music producer . He is the brother of the rapper Project Pat .
Career
Juicy J and DJ Paul were both DJs in Memphis and began working together in the early 1990s. They started in 1991 as Triple 6 Mafia and later called themselves Three 6 Mafia : A hip-hop crew emerged that helped rap from the southern United States to make its breakthrough. As a producer and rapper, Juicy J has been involved in numerous albums by the crew and their members. Around 2000 they had their breakthrough in the American charts.
In 2001 Juicy J went on a foray into the film business for the first time and took on the film Choices in direct production , in which most of the crew members were involved. The following year he released his first solo album. Chronicles of the Juice Man became a hit and hit the top 20 on the R&B charts.
In the following years Juicy J was again successful with Three 6 Mafia. He also wrote the song It's Hard out Here for a Pimp for the film Hustle & Flow with DJ Paul . It's about a rapper in Memphis who makes his breakthrough with this song. The song was named best movie song at the 2006 Academy Awards . It was the first hip-hop song to be performed at an award event.
In 2009 Juicy J started his second solo attempt and left Three 6 Mafia in 2010. With the album Hustle Till I Die , however, he stayed with the success of the previous album . Only a label change brought him forward in the following years: He joined the Taylor gang of Wiz Khalifa . With Bandz a Make Her Dance , in which he was supported by Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz , he had his first hit single in 2012 and came in at number 29. For the next album release he signed with Columbia Records . Two more chart singles followed before his third album Stay Trippy was released in late summer 2013 . Thanks to previous successes, the album debuted at number 4 on the US charts and reached number 1 on rap albums.
He then worked on singles that also included pop greats like Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber . He had his biggest hit in early 2014 when he worked with Katy Perry . Their single Dark Horse reached number 1 in the US charts and was also an international hit.
