Franklin - a turtle conquered the world (originally Franklin ) is an American-Canadian-French animated series that was produced from 1997 to 2003.

The series is about a bright, young turtle named Franklin, who explores his world with his friends and experiences new exciting adventures every day, based on the books by Paulette Bourgeois and Brenda Clark . The series is set in the forests in the eastern part of the United States . Franklin and his friends learn how important helpfulness, trust and, of course, fun are for friendship. A wide variety of topics come up, such as friendship with each other, the first great love, the first own pet, taking responsibility and its consequences as well as problems, e.g. B. arguments, envy, unpunctuality and their solution, and things like superstition and fears to language.
Each episode begins with the sentence "Franklin can invent the most beautiful stories and tie his shoes ..."

Nelvana International Limited and Viacom, supported by the Canadian government, Family Channel and Canadas Family Network, were involved in the production of the series . The series was produced in the People's Republic of China and Canada . Directed by John van Bruggen , Gary Hurst , Raymond Jafelice . The script was written by Peter Sauder , Nicola Barton and other authors. Bruce Cockburn wrote the theme song for the series . The German dubbing was done by Bavaria Film Synchron with the help of Inez Günther .

The series was released in English in 1997. It ran for the first time in the United States , Canada, and the United Kingdom from 1997 to 2002 . The series had its television premiere in Germany from September 2 to December 31, 1999 on the station KIKA. In the years 2000 to 2013, it was also shown on the ZDF , KIKA , ORF 1 and SF 2 channels .
