Adilabad ( Urdu : عادل آباد, Telugu : ఆదిలాబాదు) is a city in the north of the Indian state of Telangana . It is the administrative seat of the district of the same name .
history
The name of the city is derived from the then ruler of the area, Mohammed Adil Shah, a member of the Shiite ruling family of the Adil Shahi .
Because of its location near the border between Central India and South India, the city has been ruled by North Indian dynasties, the rulers of the Mughal Empire, for example, as well as by ruling families of South India, for example the Shatavahana .

Languages / religion
In Adilabad, Urdu is traditionally spoken by the majority, especially the Muslim population, but Telugu , which is one of the Dravidian languages , is the official language. There is also a Marathi-speaking minority in Adilabad , Marathi is the official language of the neighboring state of Maharashtra . Muslims make up the majority in Adilabad, but there is a significant Hindu minority. Adilabad is multicultural; in addition to the traditional residents, Malayalam , Bengal , Rajasthani and Gujarati live together peacefully.
