French Montana (2017)

French Montana (born November 9, 1984 in Casablanca , Morocco ; real name Karim Kharbouch ) is an American rapper and singer .

Life

French Montana was born to Moroccan parents in the city of Casablanca. In 1996 his parents emigrated with him and his two brothers to the United States, where they settled in New York in the Bronx . When Montana was 17, the father left the family, so Montana took care of his mother and younger brothers. His mother tongues are Arabic and French .

On August 11, 2017, French Montana received its own vodka from the beverage company Cîroc , the Cîroc French Vanilla .

music

Between 2001 and 2010 he and Cokeboy Los released a series of mixtapes they called 'Cocaine City'. He raps on these under the name Young French. Because the mixtapes also contain interviews with great rap figures, the “street DVDs” became box office hits. In 2009 he finally signed a contract with the record label Akon's Konvict Muzik, but left it again in 2011 to work with P. Diddy's Bad Boy Records and Interscope Records. His debut album Excuse My French , which came out in 2013, was produced by Bad Boy Records and the Maybach Music Group in a joint venture. Between 2007 and 2013, Montana released 21 mixtapes. French Montana's music is influenced by Rick Ross , with whom he also stood in the recording studio for the debut album, Snoop Dogg , The Notorious BIG , Tupac Shakur , Wu-Tang Clan and 50 Cent , which he also likes to hear himself. His first single Pop That , released by Excuse My French , on which Rick Ross, Drake and Lil Wayne can be heard and which was released in 2012, reached number 9 in the 2012 ranking of all googled songs in the USA.

In 2012 he was also featured on the album Behind Blue Eyes by German rapper Fler . His debut album Excuse My French was released in 2013 .

On April 7th, 2017 he released the single Unforgettable , on which Swae Lee was featured by Rae Sremmurd . The single was a great success and rose u. a. in the top 10 in England. In June 2017, it was announced that the song had achieved platinum status. On July 14th, his second studio album, Jungle Rules, was released . Three months later, in October, French Montana achieved gold status for the first time with an album.

Non-profit online campaign for Unforgettable

The shooting of the single Unforgettable was filmed in Kampala , Uganda . During this time, French Montana learned from the residents how poor the country's health was. A short time later, he supported a campaign that raised money to provide financial support for this critical situation. Montana donated approximately $ 100,000 out of pocket. This sum went mainly to the organization "Mama Hope", which supports pregnant women in the country. Insights into progress can be found on Instagram at irregular intervals. The singer The Weeknd also supports this campaign with financial means.
