Omari Ishmael Grandberry (born November 12, 1984 in Inglewood , California ), better known as Omarion , is an American R&B singer and actor . He became famous as the lead singer of the boy group B2K .

Career

Omari Ishmael Grandberry grew up as the son of Leslie and Trent Grandberry in Inglewood. He is the oldest of seven siblings. His younger brother O'Ryan and stepbrother Marques Houston are also singers. He started singing at the age of five and later had advertising appearances for Kellogg’s and McDonald’s .

His musical career began in 2001 when he founded the band B2K with Dreux "Lil 'Fizz", Frederic DeMario "Raz-B" Thornton and Jarell "J-Boog" Houston . After the dissolution in 2004, Omarion began his solo career. He also played in several movies and TV series. The most famous film was Streetstyle ( You Got Served ), the sequel Backdown he is currently working on.

In 2005 he won a BET Award in the Viewer's Choice Award category for his debut album "O", for which he was also nominated at the 2006 Grammy Awards in the Best Contemporary R&B Album category.

For 2012 Omarion recorded a song with the famous Japanese singer Kumi Kōda . The song is called "Slow" and is available on the album "Japonesque" (by Kumi Kōda). What is special is that a music video was also shot for the song.
