Gucci Mane
Radric Davis (born February 12, 1980 ), known under the pseudonym Gucci Mane , is an American rapper and CEO and founder of the music label 1017 Eskimo Records (formerly 1017 Brick Squad, previously So Icey Entertainment ). He is currently under contract with Atlantic Records, among others . On November 8, 2017, he extended his contract for $ 10 million.
Life
Davis grew up in Birmingham , Alabama , wrote poetry as a child and began rapping at the age of 14. As a teenager, Davis moved to Atlanta , Georgia , with his mother .
In April 2001, Davis was charged with cocaine possession and sentenced to 90 days in prison. In May 2005, Davis was attacked by a group of burglars at his home and he shot one of the men. The burglar's body was later found near a school. Davis turned himself in to the police and said he acted in self-defense. He was charged with murder. In late January 2006, the charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence.
Radric's musical career began in 2005 when a record company discovered his locally released single Black Tee and offered him a contract. In the same year Radric released his debut album Trap House which reached number 1 in the Heatseeker charts , but failed to make it into the top 100 of the official charts. On Trap House is among other things the hit single Icy with rapper Young Jeezy . A dispute over the song rights later led to a dispute between the two musicians.
A year after Trap House followed his second album Hard to Kill , which includes the hit single Freaky Gurl and # 12 on the Hot Rap Tracks, # 19 on the Hot R & B / Hip-Hop Songs, and # 62 on the Hot 100 reached.
In 2007 Davis released his third album Back to the Trap House , which contains the official remix of the hit single Freaky Gurl with guest appearances by Ludacris and Lil 'Kim . Gucci Mane appears on some works and released various mixtapes. In May 2009, Davis was signed by Warner Bros. Records .
In 2008, Davis was arrested for parole violations for completing only 25 of the 600 mandatory community hours. He was arrested and not released until May 2010.
In 2009 he appeared on the remix of Boom Boom Pow by the group Black Eyed Peas , on the song Obsessed by Mariah Carey and 5 Star Chick by Yo Gotti (Gucci Mane had a total of 17 guest appearances in 2009). Mane also released the album The State vs. Radric Davis , whose title alludes to his numerous conflicts with the law. The album features the single Wasted with Plies , which was previously on his mixtape Writing on the Wall , the single reached number 36 on the Hot 100 and number 3 in the Hot R & B / Hip-Hop charts, making it his most successful to date Single.
Upon his release from prison, Mane announced that he would change the label name from So Icey Entertainment to 1017 Brick Squad Records . In September 2010 he released the album The Appeal: Georgia's Most Wanted .
In November 2010, Davis was arrested for driving on the wrong side of the road, running over a red light, damaging property, not having a driver's license, and obstructing traffic.
In 2011 Gucci Mane released his tenth EP The Return of Mr. Zone 6 , which was mostly produced by Drumma Boy . The EP reached number 18 on the Billboard 200 charts, making it his highest ranked EP. His album reached number 2 on the rap album chart and number 8 on the R & b / Hip-Hop album chart. In August, the first collaboration album Ferrari Boyz with Waka Flocka Flame was released , the first single of the album is entitled She Be Puttin On , the album itself reached number 21 on the Billboard 200 charts. In September 2011 he was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment for two acts of assault and public nuisance. He was released in December 2011. In the same month the album BAYTL was released with V-Nasty . Three days after the release of BAYTL , a music video for the track Push Ups with the rapper Slim Dunkin was planned, but Slim Dunkin was killed by gunshots by an unknown perpetrator before the filming.
In February 2012 Gucci Mane released the mixtape Trap Back , on which guest appearances were contributed by Yo Gotti , Rocko , Waka Flocka Flame , Jadakiss , 2 Chainz and Future . His next mixtape I'm Up was released in May 2012 and the mixtape Trap God in October . Gucci Mane also made two guest appearances on Waka Flocka Flame’s mixtape Salute Me or Shoot Me 4 . In February 2013 Gucci Mane released the next mixtape Trap God 2 , at the end of March the mixtapes Free Bricks 2 with Young Scooter , Trap Back 2 and EastAtlantaMemphis with Young Dolph .
His next studio album, Trap House III , was released in May 2013 , the third and final installment in his Trap House series. Ten days after Trap House III , another album called Mr. GuWop was announced, a special feature of the album is the guest appearance by Shock Rock and Gucci Mane's friend Marilyn Manson , who is also said to have contributed to the music direction of the album. In 2013, Gucci Mane made his actor debut in the film Spring Breakers , and he also worked with colleague Rocko in The Spot as an actor.
In March 2013, Davis was jailed after attacking a fan with a bottle. A little later, another witness testified that Davis punched him in the face. In April, Davis was found guilty of assault by the court. He paid $ 75,000 bail, but was arrested again four days later for parole violation and was not released until May 2, 2013 three weeks later. In September 2013, Davis was arrested for insulting an officer , carrying a hidden weapon, and possession of marijuana .
In September 2013, Gucci Mane's contract with Atlantic Records was terminated after insulting numerous musicians on Twitter. In the same month the mixtape Diary Of A Trap God was released. The 23-track mixtape includes, among other things, the single Nuthing on ya with Wiz Khalifa as well as other guest appearances by E-40 and Tyga, among others .
On December 15, 2016, Gucci released Mane in collaboration with Drake Both . In June 2017 it was announced that the single had achieved platinum status. This is also the first platinum award for Gucci Mane.
In 2018 Mane worked with the German DJ Felix Jaehn and the US R&B singer Marc E. Bassy , resulting in the piece Cool . The song was an official single release on Jähns debut album I released. It was released as a single download on February 9, 2018.
