Gorilla Zoe [zəʊ] (born November 29, 1980 in Atlanta , Georgia; real name Alonzo Keith  Mathis ) is an American rapper.

life and career

Alonzo Mathis, as Gorilla Zoe is properly called, left school at 16 and tried odd jobs in Kentucky before getting a permanent job at The Funk Shop in Atlanta . With his savings he bought equipment for a recording studio and produced his first own CD.

Through the CD and his studio he made the contacts that helped him to a record deal in 2007. He immediately drew attention to himself when he performed with Yung Joc on his album Hustlenomics . Both songs in which he is involved were released as single and made it into the R&B charts, Coffee Shop also made the official charts.

Shortly thereafter, Gorilla Zoe's debut single, Hood Nigga , was released, and it was an instant hit. The debut album Welcom to the Zoo , which was released in autumn 2007, also got off to a good start and reached number 3 on the US rap charts.

Not even half a year later he already pushed his second album, which made it to the top of the rap charts and made it into the top 10 of the official sales charts.

Gorilla Zoe is also a member of the four-member gangsta rap group Boyz n da Hood , which he joined in 2007 as a replacement for Young Jeezy .
