Ettore Ewen (born March 1, 1986 in Tampa , Florida , USA ) better known by his ring name Big E is an American wrestler who is currently under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment . He is a former powerlifting fighter . In powerlifting, he won gold twice at the USAPL US Open Powerlifting Championships .

His greatest achievements include winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship , the NXT Championship , winning the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship twice and winning the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship six times .

Wrestling career

WWE (since 2009)

Florida Championship Wrestling and NXT (2009-2013)

In 2009 he signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment . On December 17, 2009, he made his debut under the ring name Big E Langston at Florida Championship Wrestling , the WWE's development league at the time . On May 12, 2011, he and Calvin Raines won against Richie Steamboat and Seth Rollins to get the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship . They lost the title on July 21, 2011 to CJ Parker and Donny Marlow.

He made his WWE NXT debut on August 1, 2012 when he defeated Adam Mercer. He started a feud against The Shield . On January 9, 2013, he defeated NXT Champion Seth Rollins in a no-disqualifications match and won the NXT Championship . He lost his title to Bo Dallas on June 12, 2013.

Main roster debut and WWE Intercontinental Champion (2012-2014)

On December 17, 2012 he made his debut on the main roster in which he attacked John Cena . He became the bodyguard of AJ Lee and Dolph Ziggler . At WrestleMania 29, he and Dolph Ziggler lost a title match for the WWE Tag Team Championship against Team Team Hell No ( Daniel Bryan and Kane ). He assisted AJ Lee in her feud against Kaitlyn . After AJ Lee won the WWE Divas Championship , Dolph Ziggler split on the July 14, 2013 Raw edition. Then he feuded with AJ Lee against Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn. The feud ended at Summerslam 2013 when he and AJ Lee were defeated by Dolph Ziggler and Kaitlyn in a mixed tag team match . After this feud, he separated from AJ Lee and began a career as a single wrestler.

In the SmackDown edition of October 18, 2013, he came to CM Punk's help when he was attacked by Ryback and Curtis Axel and thus turned to the side of the Faces. He then started a feud against WWE Intercontinental Champion Curtis Axel. Because Curtis Axel was injured, he instead feuded against Dean Ambrose for the WWE United States Championship . He couldn't win the title though. When Curtis Axel recovered from his injury, they continued the WWE Intercontinental Championship feud . In the November 18, 2013 Raw edition, he defeated Curtis Axel to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship , his first title on the main roster. After PPV WWE Elimination Chamber became his ring name Big E changed. He lost the Intercontinental title on May 4, 2014 to Bad News Barrett .

The New Day (since 2014)

Since November 3, 2014 he has been forming the stable The New Day together with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods . On April 26, 2015 at WWE Extreme Rules , he and Kofi Kingston won against Cesaro and Tyson Kidd to win the WWE Tag Team Championship . Since The New Day compete under the freebird rule , Xavier Woods also became WWE Tag Team Champion, or all three members of The New Day held the WWE Tag Team Championship . At WWE Money In The Bank 2015 , he and Xavier Woods lost the titles to the Prime Time Players ( Darren Young and Titus O'Neal ). After that, The New Day feuded against the Prime Time Players , Los Matadores ( Diego and Fernando) and Lucha Dragons ( Kalisto and Sin Cara) for the WWE Tag Team Championship . At Summerslam 2015, he and Kofi Kingston won a Fatal-Four-Way-Tag Team Match against the Prime Time Players, Los Matadores and Lucha Dragons , thus taking back the WWE Tag Team Championship . Once again, The New Day appear under the freebird rule, so that once again all three members of The New Day are WWE Tag Team Champions. Then they feuded against the Dudley Boyz and were able to successfully defend their titles against them. Then they feuded against the Usos and the Lucha Dragons. They successfully defended their titles at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 13, 2015 against the Lucha Dragons and the Usos in a Fatal 3-Way Tag Team Match . On January 24, 2016 at the Royal Rumble , he and Kofi Kingston successfully defended their titles against the Usos.

On July 22, 2016, The New Day broke Paul London and Brian Kendrick's records to become the team with the longest title reign in the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship . The WWE Tag Team Championship was renamed the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship as part of the introduction of the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship while they were still champions . On December 18, 2016, at the PPV Roadblock: End of the Line , they lost their titles to Cesaro and Sheamus after 483 days of title reign .

The April 11, 2017 edition of SmackDown announced the move from The New Day to SmackDown. They've been part of the SmackDown roster ever since. On July 23, 2017 at WWE Battleground , they won the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship from the Usos . By winning the title, they are the first tag team to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship after the Raw Tag Team Championship . At SummerSlam on August 20, 2017, they lost the title again to The Usos . After just 23 days, The New Day were able to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship back from The Usos. However, this reign lasted only 26 days and finally lost the title again on October 8, 2017 at Hell In A Cell in a Hell In A Cell match back to The Usos. On August 21, 2018, the trio were able to secure the SmackDown Tag Team Championship for the third time , this time from the then titleholders The Bludgeon Brothers Harper and Rowan . The reign then lasted for 56 days and lost the title on October 16, 2018 at SmackDown 1000 to The Bar Cesaro & Sheamus . Since then, the trio has been playing various tag team matches. On July 17, 2019, he and Woods won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship for the fourth time. The reign lasted until September 15, 2019 and then finally lost the title to The Revival Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder. On November 8, 2019, he and Kofi Kingston won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship for the fifth time. For this they defeated The Revival Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder. On November 24, 2019, he and his tag team partner Kofi Kingston played a Triple Threat Tag Team Match against The Viking Raiders Erik & Ivar and The Undisputed ERA Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish at the WWE Survivor Series . He lost that match. They lost the title on February 27, 2020 in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia , at WWE Super ShowDown against The Miz and John Morrison . On April 17th, 2020, he and Kofi Kingston won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship again , defeating The Miz and John Morrison. The reign lasted 93 days and finally lost the title on July 19, 2020 to Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura .
