There he continued his football career for a year. However, while studying, he decided to become a professional wrestler. After an intensive search, he decided to attend the wrestling school Camp IWF in West Paterson , New Jersey. His wrestling debut in the independent scene took place in 2002. Rosser appeared, among others, for Chaotic Wrestling and the Independent Wrestling Federation . With the latter promotion he won his first title with the IWF Heavyweight Championship. Darren Young 2012

After Rosser had appeared in the WWE shows Sunday Night Heat and Velocity between 2005 and 2006 and had played a few dark matches for SmackDown and Raw , he signed a development contract with WWE in 2009. Like most new wrestlers, he completed the training program of the Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) Development League for a year and first appeared as Darren Young. With Percy Watson he maintained a tag team there.

Rosser took part in the first season of the wrestling show WWE NXT , where he was assigned wrestler CM Punk as a mentor. Rosser was eliminated in week 13 and ended up in fifth place.

With the rest of the participants in the first season of WWE NXT, Rosser formed the heel wrestling table The Nexus , which debuted on Raw in June 2010. After his face-turn in September of the same year, Rosser entered the ring as a lone fighter.

From March 2011, Rosser appeared in the fifth season of WWE NXT, where he was given Chavo Guerrero as a mentor this time . In April 2012 Rosser moved to SmackDown together with Thaddeus Michael Bullard, better known under the ring name Titus O'Neil . The tag team, which was named The Prime Time Players , initially appeared as heels. In August 2013 the duo faceturned.

On January 31, 2014, according to the storyline, Bullard turned against his tag team partner, which led to the breakup of Prime Time Players . Rosser temporarily stepped back into the ring as a lone fighter.

On April 12, 2014, Rosser injured his knee in a match against Fandango . After an eight-month injury break, Young made his WWE comeback in December 2014 at a live event in Winnipeg. He returned to television in February of the following year. A little later he formed a tag team with Titus O'Neil again - the new edition of the Prime Time Players . The two stepped into the ring as faces and regularly made fun of the gimmicks of the tag team competition. At the Money in the Bank PPV event on June 14, 2015, the Prime Time Players defeated The New Day stable and were named WWE Tag Team Champions for the first time in their careers . They later gave the title to the tag team The New Day . The tag team was then separated again.

In 2016, Bob Backlund took on the role of Young's "Life Coach". The two alluded to Donald Trump'sMake America Great Again ” with satirical clips under the campaign name “ Make Darren Young Great Again ” . Later that year he became a candidate for the WWE Intercontinental Championship . However, his title match at WWE Battlegrounds ended in a draw. At the big WWE Draft , he moved to WWE Raw , where he started a feud with old tag team partner Titus O'Neil.

On October 29, 2017, Rosser was fired from the WWE .

Outing

In 2013, Rosser came out as homosexual . This makes him the first out wrestler who is also under contract with the WWE and is also supported by an official statement. Before him, other wrestlers, such as Pat Patterson and Orlando Jordan , came out, but this took place after their careers at WWE ended.
