Chavo Guerrero, Jr , actually Salvador Guerrero IV (born October 20, 1970 in El Paso , Texas , USA ), better known as Chavo Guerrero , is an American wrestler of Mexican origin. He is currently under contract with Lucha Underground .

Private life

His grandfather Gory was a well-known Mexican wrestler, his father Chavo Sr. a Mexican wrestling legend. He was already active in the WWE as a wrestler and manager. His late uncle Eddie was one of the most famous Mexican WWE wrestlers. Likewise, Chavo's other uncles, Héctor and Mando , were considered great wrestlers. He is the nephew of Vickie Guerrero , the great-nephew of Enrique Llanes and the second cousin of Héctor Mejía. Guerrero has been married to his wife Susan since 1998 and has a son with her.

Wrestling career

World Championship Wrestling (1996-2001)

Chavo started his career in 1994 and was signed by WCW a short time later . He acted there with his uncle Eddie. According to the storyline , he also taught him to trick and cheat in the ring. However, Chavo wanted to win his matches in a fair way. He started a big feud against Norman Smiley .

World Wrestling Federation / Entertainment (2001-2011)

He then signed a contract with the WWF (now WWE), but was only active there in the undercard and later as a tough enough trainer. Shortly after he became active again, he and Eddie formed the Los Guerreros tag team , which was extremely successful. In contrast to the WCW gimmick , he adopted Eddie Guerrero's way of life ("lying, cheating and stealing") and thus won his matches. It didn't take the tag team long to win their first title.

The tag team did face gymnastics as Eddie's popularity rose and they won the WWE Tag Team title. After they made the title again, he did gymnastics again Heel and made henceforth Eddie for all the defeats Los Guerreros responsible. The tag team split up and Chavo became active in the cruiserweight division, where his father, Chavo Guerrero Sr., then also Chavo Classic, supported him as a manager for a short time and often helped him to win the matches. They then re-formed the failed tag team with Eddie to get revenge on him.

On August 24, 2004, Chavo was seriously injured after Billy Kidman's finishing move failed. Chavo then feuded with Kidman and later did heel again. At the PPV No Way Out he won the cruiserweight title. On June 30, 2005, he was drafted by SmackDown to RAW and then changed his gimmick to Kerwin White, a medium - sized Anglo - American . After his uncle Eddie Guerrero died on November 13, 2005, he resumed his old Chavo Guerrero gimmick. He also uses Eddie's finisher, the Frogsplash, as a tribute. After losing a fight against Shelton Benjamin , he resigned his wrestling career on the grounds that he had disappointed everyone, especially his uncle.

A few weeks later he appeared as the manager of Rey Mysterio on SmackDown and often helped him defend his World Heavyweight title . But at the PPV Great American Bash he gave Rey a chair blow, so King Booker could defeat Mysterio and win his title. He later took Mysterio's chance to win the re-match against King Booker, by throwing against the spectator barrier.

This was followed by an argument with Rey Mysterio. Chavo Guerrero was defeated in a Falls Count Anywhere match at the PPV No Mercy . He won an "I Quit!" Match on SmackDown and put Mysterio on injury break. So he started a feud with Chris Benoit . He lost all of the US title matches .

On February 18, 2007 Chavo Guerrero won the cruiserweight title at the PPV No Way Out , but he lost it at the Great American Bash on July 22nd to Hornswoggle . In August, Guerrero found himself in a feud with the returning Rey Mysterio, but was subsequently suspended for 30 days on suspicion of doping.

After a four month break, Chavo reported back on December 18, 2007 at an ECW show in the WWE, with an attack on CM Punk , who had just ended the match against Montel Vontavious Porter . On January 21, 2008, thanks to the active support of Edge , he was able to remove the ECW title from CM Punk . On March 30, 2008 at Wrestlemania 24 he lost this title again in 13 seconds to Kane , who had previously won a "24 Man Battle Royal". This match was the shortest ever in a WrestleMania.

After the draft for RAW 2009, where he u. a. feuded against Hornswoggle , he switched back to SmackDown in the 2010 draft. There he stepped u. a. as "Swagger Soaring Eagle", Jack Swagger's mascot . That disguise was quickly dropped, however, and Guerrero reappeared as himself.

He served as the pro of Darren Young on season 5 of WWE NXT .

On June 25, 2011, he was released by the WWE at his own request. As a reason, Chavo Guerrero announced a little later that he was dissatisfied with his status, as he did not always want to lose despite his efforts to promote new wrestlers like Sin Cara .

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2012-2013)

In July 2012, Guerrero signed a contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and made his debut on July 27, 2012. There he appeared with Hernandez in the tag team. With him he won the TNA World Tag Team Championship at Bound for Glory on October 14, 2012 . This Guerrero held until the Impact Wrestling records on January 25, 2013, when he had to give them to Austin Aries and Bobby Roode . On April 11, 2013, he won the title back with Hernandez before losing it to Gunner and James Storm on June 2, 2013 . He then left TNA and began again in various independent leagues, such as Chikara to compete.

Lucha Underground (since 2014)

Since 2014 he has been one of the first wrestlers on the television show Lucha Underground on El Rey Network . He also works there as a producer.
