The Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Championship is a wrestling title from the television show Lucha Underground and complements the Lucha Underground Championship with a kind of challenge title in the WWE Money in the Bank style. It allows its wearer a title fight for the championship with a lead time of one week. As usual in wrestling, the title is given in a storyline .
background
The championship was introduced in the 27th episode of the 1st season of Lucha Underground. Dario Cueto (portrayed by Luis Fernandez-Gil ) collected seven Aztec medallions (" Aztec medals"), which were supposed to represent all seven Aztec tribes. These seven medals combined would make up the Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Championship. Then he had these medals fight for individually and then set a match in which the title could be won. First champion was Fénix , but before he could convert his title into a match against the champion, he lost to King Cuerno at the beginning of the second season . Shortly thereafter, he won it back in a ladder match and used it for a title fight against Mil Muertes . This made Fénix the third Lucha Underground Champion.
After the title became vacant, Chavo Guerrero Jr. was able to assert himself against Aero Star, El Siniestro de la Muerte, Joey Ryan, Sexy Star , Texano and The Mack and became fourth Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Championship, but lost the title one A week later against Cage, who converted the title directly to a match, but lost it.
At Ultima Lucha II, the wrestler Sexy Star won the vacant title in a fight against Daga, El Siniestro de la Muerte, Killshot, Mariposa, Marty Martinez and Nightclaw.
Title chronology
As is usual in wrestling, the length of the championship is based on the real past, not on the narrative time of the television series. Therefore, the days were determined by the recording times. Some episodes have not yet aired. These were marked with tba (for “to be announced”).
