Dulce Maria García Rivas (born September 20, 1982 in Monterrey , Nuevo León , Mexico ), better known by her ring name Sexy Star , is a Mexican luchadora (masked wrestler) and former professional boxer. She was very successful in the Mexican Liga Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA) and in the television program Lucha Underground ( El Rey Network ).

Life

Dulce Maria García Rivas began practicing martial arts as a teenager and began with boxing , kickboxing and muay thai . She later studied communication science and worked in this field for a few years until she became a professional wrestler.

On August 29, 2006, she first appeared under the ring name Dulce Poly in the Federacion Internacional de Lucha Libre (FILL). There she worked with one of her trainers as a tag team and won the FILL Mixed Tag Team Championship. It also became the FILL Women's Championship. She was allowed to keep the belt until February 27, 2007.

Shortly after she had to lose the title against La Bandidad, she switched to the Mexican promotion Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, where she first appeared as a masked wrestler Sexy Star. Initially employed as a midcarder, she became one of the most popular PhD wrestlers in 2009. She was allowed to win the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, the highest women's title in the promotion, twice, as well as the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship for mixed tag teams. The latter together with Pentagón Jr.

When the AAA made several wrestlers available to the television program Lucha Underground on the US television station El Rey Network , it was there from the start. There she initially had a program with her fellow AAA wrestlers Pentagón Jr. and Super Fly . On January 31, 2016, she became the first female wrestler to win the Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Championship . After she also won the Battle Royal Aztec Warfare on April 9, 2016, she also became the first female Lucha Underground Champion , but had to give the title to Johnny Mundo a day later .

On July 2, 2016, she resigned from wrestling because of disputes with other Luchadoras. She took off her mask during a boxing match in Mexico City (a symbolic gesture in Lucha Libre) and declared that she now wanted to compete as a professional boxer.

She did not stay loyal to boxing for long and returned to wrestling, where she was hired again by her former employer, the AAA. During a match at the show Triplemanía XXV , which was jointly organized by AAA and Global Force Wrestling , she deliberately dislocated her opponent Rosemary's shoulder because there were disputes between each other before the show. After the match, Sexy Star was confronted by Vampiro and asked to apologize to Rosemary, which she did. Due to the bad relationships between AAA and Sexy Star so far, their future in the doctorate is currently uncertain.

Private life

Rivas has been married to professional boxer Jhonny González since 2015 .
