Jacob "Jake" Hager (born March 24, 1982 in Perry , Oklahoma ), better known by his ring name Jack Swagger , is an American wrestler .

Hager was under contract with WWE from 2008 to 2017 . Before his debut in the wrestling show ECW, he was active in WWE's own development league Florida Championship Wrestling , where he was the last Southern World Heavyweight Champion and the first World Heavyweight Champion. He is a five-time world champion.

Swagger won the ECW Championship , FCW World Heavyweight Championship , Lucha Underground Championship , FCW Southern World Heavyweight Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship . In 2019 he made his debut at AEW ( All Elite Wrestling ).

Wrestling career

World Wrestling Entertainment (2006-2017)

On September 9, 2006 Hager made his debut as Jake Hager in Deep South Wrestling against Ray Geezy, who later also appeared in the WWE . Hager also fought against MVP .

On January 6, 2007, he made his debut at Ohio Valley Wrestling . There he played his last match on July 6, 2007.

Then from August 2007 on to Florida Championship Wrestling. There he met many of today's WWE Superstars, e. For example: Ted DiBiase , Kofi Kingston and Sheamus . On February 15, he became FCW Florida Heavyweight Champion . He had to hand over the title to Sheamus on September 18th.

Hager as ECW Champion 2009.

On August 18, 2008, he made his WWE debut against William Regal when he lost to him in a dark match at RAW.

On September 9, 2008, he played his first match at ECW, defeating a wrestler from the venue. Shortly afterwards, he started a feud against Tommy Dreamer , which he was allowed to dominate. He then began a feud against Matt Hardy for the ECW Championship . On January 12, 2009, Hager was allowed to defeat Matt Hardy to win his first WWE title. His streak of being undefeated in singles ended on February 3, 2009 when he lost to Finlay in a non-title match. A feud followed against Christian, who had returned to WWE . After 104 days of reign as ECW Champion, he had to surrender the title to Christian at Backlash on April 26, 2009.

On June 29, 2009, Hager switched to the Monday program RAW . At WrestleMania XXVI he was allowed to win the Money in the Bank Ladder Match , which according to the storyline brings him a title match at any time within a year.

Just 2 days later, Hager redeemed the suitcase on the TV recordings for SmackDown and was allowed to win the World Heavyweight Championship with a victory over Chris Jericho . As a result, he switched to the SmackDown roster. On June 21, 2010 he had to give up his title at the PPV Fatal 4-Way in a match of the same name to Rey Mysterio , in which Big Show and CM Punk were also involved.

In the course of the WWE Draft on April 26, 2011, Hager switched back to RAW.

On January 16, 2012 , he won the WWE United States Championship from Zack Ryder at RAW . He lost the title on March 5, 2012 at RAW to Santino Marella .

After a five-month break, Hager returned in February 2013 with his new manager Zeb Colter and feuded in the gimmick of a Real American against the then World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio . From July 2013 to April 2014, he formed the Real Americans tag team with Antonio Cesaro , under the guidance of Colter . After the team was dissolved in April 2014, Hager feuded against Rusev, among others .

In early March 2017, Hager announced that he had asked the WWE for an early release from his contract. The reason for this is his dissatisfaction with the use of his person in the shows. On March 13, 2017, WWE complied with Hager's request, so that he is no longer under contract there.

All Elite Wrestling (since 2019)

On November 13, 2017, Hager announced that he had signed with Bellator MMA to fight as part of their heavyweight division. Hager won his debut against JW Kiser at Bellator 214 by giving up in the first round.
