All In (2018) and All Elite Wrestling (since 2019)

All in

In May 2017, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer answered a question on Twitter as to whether Ring of Honor was able to sell over 10,000 tickets to an event: “Not anytime soon” (German: “Not in near future”). This statement resulted in a bet between Meltzer and ring-of-honor wrestler Cody Rhodes, who then planned his own wrestling event together with Matt and Nick, at which at least 10,000 visitors should be present. This was called All In and advertised under the slogan " The Biggest Independent Wrestling Show Ever " (German: " The greatest independent wrestling show of all time "). Held in Chicago , Illinois on September 1, 2018, All In was the first non-WWE or WCW- hosted wrestling show in the United States since 1993, attracting 11,263 people to sell over 10,000 tickets. The Young Bucks defeated the Mexican team of Bandido, Rey Fénix and Rey Mysterio in the main fight together with Kota Ibushi .

All elite wrestling

After the success of All In, the All Elite Wrestling promotion was founded on January 1st, 2019 . This was done with financial support from businessmen Tony Khan and his father, billionaire Shahid Khan . Tony Khan also took on the role of managing director. Matthew and Nicholas Massie took on the role of Executive Vice President along with Cody Runnels (Cody Rhodes) and Tyson Smith (Kenny Omega) . With the audience interest generated since All In and the financial strength retained by the Khan family, AEW is the first promotion in the USA in 18 years to question the partial monopoly of the market leader WWE.

Matt and Nick made their AEW debut at the first AEW event, Double Or Nothing, on May 25, 2019, when they successfully defended their AAA World Tag Team Championship against The Lucha Brothers (Rey Fenix and Pentagon Jr.). They had previously won this title from them on March 16, 2019 at the Mexican AEW partner promotion Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide . On June 16, 2019, they returned the title at AAA Verano De Escandalo 2019 to The Lucha Brothers.
